I am a 24 year old female. I graduated from university two years ago with a degree in an unrelated field and started looking for management development programs. I chose JB Hunt over other companies because of my desire to be impactful in my position. DCS is fully of opportunity, and I truly believe that if you are unhappy in your position, it's because when applied you were truly looking for a "worker bee job," punching a clock, going by the book.
This company is for the innovators & the problem solvers. I have been mentored by those who encourage creativity and root cause analysis when things get rough. My manager preaches six sigma principles and forward thinking, with an enemy of complacency. I truly believe in my ability and my team's ability to have a major impact on this companies growth.
As an Account Manager, I'm running my own "business." I couldn't do that without the unconditional support and mentorship I've received at this company.
-While in the grand scheme of things this company has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on my growth in my career - there are good & bad drivers/managers/support staff. Advice to Management
I felt like my interview was very honest and forthright about the position I applied for. I would advise management in other areas to be more thorough in explaining the day to day requirements of the position. I believe many complaints show a lack of prior understanding when starting with the company.
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at J.B. Hunt (Lowell, AR) in February 2017.
I applied online, and 24 days later I got my first phone call. For the first call, they asked a few questions such as "are you willing to do a drug screen?" "this is what the position entails, does that sound like something you'd like to do?" "Tell me a little about what you do now," etc. Then she scheduled a phone interview for me 2 days later, which involved similar questions. Then I was invited to an on-site interview 4 days after that. The process was overall very comfortable and inviting. I was in a big room with 2 interviewers who were both very kind and made it less intimidating. My interview was on a Thursday, and they called to offer the position the next Monday. It was a great experience.
