I worked at JCC of Northern Virginia part-time
Got to enjoy my summer
Directors were understanding about education, allowed time to take a few classes
Good, fun environment
Nothing wrong with the camp itself, but dealing with rude campers was always a thing. Parents would complain directly to the counselor for things outside of their control, such as missing items.
Advice to Management
None, overall management did a very good job in ensuring the happiness of the workers.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at JCC of Northern Virginia (Fairfax, VA).
Interview was easy. Just came in and worked a class to see how you interacted with the kids. Lots of 1 on 1 with the children to determine how good of a communicator you were and a test of patience. Obviously some swimming experience is helpful.
