Why Consultancy?

The Journey
JDXers are JDX. From our softball team to our company offsites and regular all Company meetings we are one team. Whilst on one of our projects you will return regularly during the week to our Bishopsgate office for training and mentoring. We will look after your career and have a lot of fun too.

    I have been working at JDX Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Given a lot of responsibility from day one which I definitely wouldn’t have got in most other companies

    The training and development provided to all staff - new Academy was launched a few months ago and it now covers way more training than it used to (really good courses too) and the e-learning platform is also pretty good

    The opportunity to work with senior people from across the business (and senior clients) - the senior team are all really accessible and welcome input from all levels - I feel I can approach anyone including the CEO and Founder

    The people - JDX recruit good people and have lots of social events to bring everyone together

    The ability to progress really quickly - not sure many other companies offer such fast progression

    Definitely a company willing to evolve and grow as needed - recent introduction of new policies show that

    Cons

    Not all projects are as interesting/challenging as each other

    Starting salary is pretty low (but this does increase quickly)

    Holiday allowance could be better

    Advice to Management

    Keep the training and development coming, keep communicating with staff as the business grows, don’t make the senior team inaccessible like in many other companies

    Application

    I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at JDX Consulting in May 2014.

    Interview

    This entire process was a disaster. I was contacted by a recruiting agency (Goodman Mason) at the middle of May 2014 asking if I was interested in speaking with one of their clients (JDX) for potential employment. I replied that I was and asked to schedule an interview. After a few weeks of none to limited responses, we finally set something up as a quick phone screen with JDX. These were just basic personality questions and went smoothly. Then it took three weeks to hear feedback from it and schedule an in person interview. The in person interview was also just a personality check. This time it took a month to hear anything back even with a few emails chasing. Then once they got back to me, they said they would only hire me once their (JDX's) client signed on for the project. This again took a month to hear any feedback, and I was completely left in the dark throughout the process. When the client said they wanted to meet with me, I had to talk through the recruiting agency which then had to schedule through JDX to interview with the client. Again this took two weeks and I wasn't told about the interview until the day before. Once the client met with me and said they would approve (August 30th), JDX gave me 24 hours to either accept or decline the offer (which was not the same as discussed earlier in the process). The entire interview process took over 3 months and the salary and benefits was lower than what was originally discussed.

    Keep in mind, this was for a project that they had pretty much set in place already. If you are starting to interview for JDX in New York now, you probably don't have a project in place yet, and they will drag you through the entire way while leaving you in the dark for all of it. This also doesn't include the mandatory boot camp that all recruits must go through that add on extra time to the process.
