I have been working at Jefferson County Public Schools (Kentucky) full-time
I have been a member of JCPS as both a student and employee. Even though I have frequently held challenging positions, I have always took great pride in my job, enjoy working with youth, and for the most part have had supportive administrators at the building-level.
Most often, important decisions that effect those at the building-level are made by those who have very little experience as an educator.
Advice to Management
Be supportive of faculty. Be confident decisive and fair when make decisions that will impact teacher and student success. Be a strong communicator, problem solver and be willing to 'walk the walk'.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Jefferson County Public Schools (Kentucky) (Louisville, KY) in September 2016.
My phone interview began with "We will only be asking you one question, and you have four minutes to reply. Are you ready?." The question was incredibly wordy and included are too many elements to be address in four minutes. Really JCPS? You're hiring for a district level position, and you believe you are able to glean from one question all you need about a candidate?
