I have been working at Jerde full-time
I've worked at many places, this place is unique. It is more like a design studio than an architectural office, which comes with many benefits but also with some challenges. There is great design opportunity here for those willing to take the initiative and push for it. Things have improved in the last couple years and now the transition of ownership has settled down, it seems the environment is improving. The challenges of working internationally in a variety of cultures has been a great growth experience professionally and personally. All in all, there are not many places you can work and push the design envelop as much as we try.
Well, it is a design studio, so the culture is creative and thus organization is not always as ideal as it could be. The tight deadlines can be tough sometimes. Some of the international clientele are demanding and the high expectations of the DPs can require extra efforts at times. As result of being a design firm for so long, the technical exposure here is limited unless you get to work directly with the AOR and Consulting teams.
Advice to Management
I agree with one of the other comments, more transparency and discussions about vision of the company going forward. The leadership transition has settled, but now it is time to see the leadership move the company forward and grow it's domestic presence and become a design leader both domestically and internationally.
