I worked at John Perez Graphics & Design full-time (Less than a year)
Working at John Perez Graphics and Design was a great learning experience as a fresh college graduate. The Oil & Gas Industry is fast and exciting and John Perez is the guy to learn from. John was always more that willing to help and teach the different aspects of the geology, technology and ins and outs of the business to help launch successful products. If you want it badly enough, the world is your oyster and I was always encouraged to aggressively go after what you want. The work is challenging and the hours are long but fresh out of college, I wanted this environment and focus. I was always rewarded for my hard work with bonuses, promotions and treats like nail care and stress relieving massages.
Working at John Perez Graphics & Design definitely launched my professional career and I have been able to maintain a focused route within the creative industry. I was always trusted and allowed to stretch my wings. We even began introducing more company events to emphasize the company culture. I believe that I wouldn't be as successful in my professional career without the knowledge and skills gained from working at JPGD.
I believe that John honestly wants the best for his employees and goes above and beyond to reward. The work environment and line of work isn't for everyone but that's one of the reasons this business is so special and unique.
Requires a lot of time and dedication - this was perfect for me as I did not have a strong resume to launch my career when I was a young, single female.
Demanding and work must be a priority. This leads me to say that the company isn't for everyone - especially those that require time for family, traveling and want a 9-5 only. When necessary, I would work on Saturdays and often took my work home with me but again, I truly loved the work and this wasn't too much of an issue for me.
Advice to Management
A better work/life balance needs to be established - keep emphasizing the company culture with events and small parties so you can get to know your employees and their families.
John, I loved that we were expanding the different applications of multimedia and art (the hand painted originals the Executive Oilfield Calendar and giclees were simply breathtaking)!! Continue to push the envelope.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at John Perez Graphics & Design.
Initial telephone screening done with Mr. Perez. After answering Mr. Perez's questions, he instructed me to look at his site & write him if still interested in the position. After looking @ the site, I wrote back expressing interest. He didn't respond back in writing or phone call. When I called him to follow-up, he was extremely rude to me indicating I took too long to write (it was the next day after our phone conversation). He then abruptly told me they were looking at other candidates. Bad impression of this comp. because of his lack of tact, didn't thank me for applying & general unprofessional phone skills.
