I applied online. I interviewed at Just Salad in August 2017.
I spoke with the department head for a phone interview. But he shut things down before we even got started because I hadn't yet been to a location (There is only ONE in all of Brooklyn), and said that they wouldn't talk to me unless I made a purchase at one of their locations. I'm pretty sure this is illegal, but I really needed the job regardless of what kind of boss he clearly would be.
I bought an $8 wrap that I couldn't really afford that week. (A wrap, at a place called "Just Salad"...ok). It wasn't bad. The store is basically like any salad place. It's not like you have to go there to "go through the experience" as he put it. I emailed him immediately to tell him I was ready for a call. 10 days and another email later he tells me that they went with another candidate. I wonder how much THAT person had to spend to get him on the phone for more than 90 seconds.
I've never interviewed at a business that required me to be a patron of the company before they would even outline the job to me. GOOD LUCK to anyone who actually gets to speak with these people.
