Advice to Management
Give student workers more feedback on how they are doing
I applied in-person. I interviewed at KD College Prep.
After hearing about KD from many sources (mostly previous students) I walked in one day and asked the front desk if they were looking for math teachers. They had me meet with director who asked if I had a Bachelor's degree, which I did. So I was given an application after that.
After the application is processed, they set up a date for an interview. During the interview they first had me take a math section of the SAT which was timed. After scoring it, they chose two problems from the section and gave me a couple of minutes to think about how I would teach those problems to a groups of students. Two of the directors then returned and I taught the steps of the problem to them. They also ask some common student questions regarding the problems. After that, they asked scenario based questions like, "What would you do if a student used their cellphone?". I got hired within that week. However, there is a training period which can last about a month (or more, depends on the time of the year) and as a new hire I only got a couple of hours a month. Over time though, I started to get more hours, especially in the summers.
