Cory is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He played football for Purdue University (Boiler up!) before receiving his Bachelors of Science in Organizational Leadership, and a Masters in Curriculum Instruction. Prior to joining Kareo, Cory was a Football Strength & Conditioning coach at Purdue. And later traveled to Europe to continue coaching & playing American football in Bologna, Italy.

“I find it impressive when candidates display confidence, knowledge of our company, hunger, and most importantly…a sense of humor & friendly personality”. To be selected as a Customer Support Coach, candidates need top-notch communication & influencing skills. We look for people with backgrounds in account management and software implementation. We hire people who genuinely care about helping customers achieve success, so we look for candidates with high levels of empathy for others. \
I have been working at Kareo full-time (More than a year)
First and foremost, the people here are among the friendliest you will ever meet. The hiring team must've screened heavily for this quality because everyone is so darn nice and endearing. Secondly, everyone is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable in their area. I never have any doubts my co-workers will follow through on their jobs and do it well. The managers (at least in the Marketing department) have done a great job of balancing a relaxed, low-pressure environment while also encouraging everyone to do their best. There's always plenty of opportunities to try different projects and expand your skills. Each month feels a little different from the last.
I think the promotion and salary negotiation process is rather vague (maybe purposefully kept so), but I can understand that. It's really up to you to take that initiative. I really can't think of any other cons. I think upper management has taken a lot of steps in the past few months to address concerns listed in the previous reviews. A lot of these reviews may seem to imply that the executive team doesn't listen to employee feedback, but I really do get a sense that they're trying, especially in the past few months. But I can only speak for the Marketing department.
Advice to Management
There's a lot of tough feedback on this page, and perhaps it is fair. I just want to represent those in the company that still feel Kareo is a great place to work and to show appreciation for your efforts in trying to address your employee's concerns and incorporate our feedback. Keep doing more of that!
I applied online. I interviewed at Kareo (Irvine, CA) in June 2017.
Applied online, went through phone interview, was asked to come onsite.
Went through interview with different groups of people for 3 hours. Technical questions - algorithms, data structures, design, web API, problem solving.
I was stuck on some aspects of algorithm white-board coding, although I explained how to solve the algorithm verbally. Was kind of a big mood killer when they showed negativity very openly, saying things like "there's no point to ask anything else". Then there was a question with an answer that nobody would guess what's on that person's mind. Question was on what to do to optimize RESTful web API performance. After several approaches it turns out they were looking for "make RESTful API stateless" - really? I commented saying, "it is stateless by definition" and got as reply - "well, sometimes it could have state"... Then there was a question on SQL query - I think they were shooting for "WITH"-kind of grouping query - I didn't remember the syntax on how it should be. But this last one was under the negativity that they had started showing and rushing to get it over with. This was with the first group of engineers. After they left, I saw and heard them talking to another group - one guy was very distinctively shaking his head and saying, "he's no good". After this I really just wanted to wrap it up and leave.
The next group of people I think felt my discouragement, I answered the questions pretty well in my point of view, but it took me some time to pull myself together after the first round :). There was a question they asked on algorithm which turned out to be poorly asked - I created a piece of code that was doing one thing according to the task I heard and was told at the end that the task was something else - they were not clear on that.
The third group of people was concerned about my mood and the impression I made - I explained why I was feeling that way and sincerely apologized. We had great conversation - some design questions, some software and web API.
Overall - great company, great tour, atmosphere, I really liked it, but the interview process wasn't that of a good experience for me :)
