KeepTruckin – Why Work With Us?

KeepTruckin is on a mission to modernize the trucking industry. With the leading fleet management platform, we are bringing trucks online and fundamentally changing the way freight is moved on our roads. Listed in Forbes Cloud 100 and recognized by Glassdoor as a “Best Place to Work” in 2019, KeepTruckin shows the benefits of investing in talented employees.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who are looking to make an impact on the millions of drivers who keep our world moving. Together, we work hard, snack harder, laugh a lot, sing karaoke, and enjoy the happiest of hours. Headquartered in San Francisco, we have offices in Nashville, Buffalo, Pakistan, and Taiwan.

Hitting the Road

KeepTruckin got its start when founders Shoaib Makani, Obaid Khan, and Ryan Johns saw an opportunity to improve efficiency in the $700 billion trucking industry: specifically paper hours of service logs, complicated regulations, and fragmented businesses. They saw how modern technology and data could streamline the massive industry and help the millions of drivers on our roads.

Serving Those Who Move Our World

Striving to make an impact on millions of drivers, KeepTruckin’s platform improves
efficiency, safety, and reliability. Our app allows drivers to ditch
their paper logs—saving time and keeping them on the road. Our vehicle gateway
delivers powerful data to fleet leadership—allowing for data-driven decision
making. More importantly, we’re prioritizing road safety with dash cams—
protecting lives and businesses from the uncertainty of the road.

Driving Solutions for Real Problems

Despite being a massive industry, trucking is primed for a technological overhaul.
The market is fragmented, the tech is outdated, and time and money continue to
be lost to inefficiency. Opportunities to optimize the industry are abundant, and
we’re geared to continue building better solutions, making the most of available
data, and delivering superior experiences at all levels of trucking businesses.

Company Culture

Employee development serves as the foundation of our overall mission of bringing
the trucking industry online. By fostering a culture that celebrates problem solvers,
creative thinkers, and collaborators, we are poised to effect meaningful, disruptive
change within trucking for decades to come.

Driving the Revolution

Using 39 billion gallons of fuel, 3.5 million truckers drive 400 billion miles each
year. We're looking for engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to bring these trucks online and optimize a massive industry that’s been overlooked by technology.

Trucking is going through a tech revolution and our team is laying the
foundation. Here, you won’t be making incremental updates to an existing
platform. You’ll be creating new, innovative solutions that have a real impact
on the 8.9 million people in the trucking industry.

KeepTruckin is a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment.
Engineers take ownership of projects and are encouraged to exercise their
creativity to solve the industry’s unique problems. Here, you’ll tackle a variety
of projects while working closely with our CTO—allowing for tremendous
professional growth.

As KeepTruckin evolves, we are continuously rooted in our values. They guide our business
decisions, our product development, and our brand.

Create trust

Great teams thrive on trust. We’re committed to providing a space where you are free to take risks, voice your opinions, and ask judgment-free questions.

Embrace diversity

Diversity breeds innovation. We are continually striving to create an environment that is free from unconscious biases, where everyone can find a sense of empowerment.

Seek continuous improvement

Opportunity is abundant. We are addicted to the rush of making an impact. Every day is a new chance to tackle problems and execute on the solutions.

Be transparent

Transparency engenders trust. Creating an inclusive environment where team members are enabled to do their best work, begins with clear information and intentions.

Follow through with urgency

Our success is interdependent. Given the complexity of our business, we rely on each other to accomplish our collective goals. We do what we say we will, and expect the same of others.

Advocate for the user

Our users inspire everything we do. We strive to do what is best for them in every decision we make. Whether you’re on the Product Team or the Sales team, drivers are at the core of the work we do.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at KeepTruckin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Since coming to KT I've been impressed at the level of transparency and structure within my department. I joined the team because I was looking to be empowered as a super IC. Everything I noticed in my interviewing and in discussions leading up to my offer have come through since I've joined. When I was interviewing and considering the offer everything in my gut felt that this company was living it's values, their was a huge learning opportunity for me and this could be the most influential company I work for in my career thus far.

    The highlights have been:
    - Resources: I have access to all the tools I need to do my job, and to do it well. The knowledge of my peers and their support to get me ramped up has been easy and effortless.
    - Transparency: In my second week, our CEO got up in the all-hands and owned what we've done well and where we fell short. The all-hands actual have structure and meaning to them and highlight specific departments instead of being boring numbers and figures.
    - Work/life balance: Speaking for my team, we're treated like adults (bonus!). I can tell that my team puts in the work and has the flexibility to wfh when needed and has the flexibility to take vacation when needed. This is something I really valued and wanted in my next company so I could pursue my passions outside of work.

    Cons

As the company is growing, it's harder and harder to know a lot of employees outside of your department.

    Advice to Management

Transparency is key, strong leadership and leaving ego's at the door. So far the company has done a great job of this, so making sure to keep this in stride as the company continues to grow is really important.

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at KeepTruckin.

    Interview

Was reached out to by a recruiter. Had some phone rounds then an onsite. Overall the process was pretty straightforward and the employees were easy to talk to. I was able to go from first contact to an offer in under a month.

    Interview Questions

    • Some rounds were technical (online assessment, data manipulation exercise). Some were more open-ended (a modeling exercise and a brainstorming session). Remaining were culture and fit-type questions.   Answer Question
