Kinnser is based in Austin, Texas. When most people think of Austin, they think of beautiful scenery, the vibrant and historic University of Texas, the fascinating bats beneath the Congress Avenue bridge, and the city’s status as “the live music capital of the world,” but Austin is also a mecca for technology and innovation. Kinnser has assembled a powerful team of some of the smartest, most creative thinkers anywhere. As Kinnser president and founder, Chris Hester has said, “Austin has been a great city for me to grow a business and a family.”

Generous charitable giving fits well in the values of Kinnser Software. We see ourselves as a vital part of multiple communities – our city, our nation, and our industry of healthcare. And we have eagerly supported programs that help meet the needs of all these communities.

Nursing scholarships

The Kinnser Scholars Program is a $225,000 fund that will award 90 recipients at Austin Community College with full scholarships for tuition, fees, books and nursing program expenses over the next five years. Disabled American Veterans

Kinnser founder & president Christopher Hester made the decision to contribute $15,000 to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust, a national organization, based on his service in the Army and his desire to help veterans in need. The DAV Charitable Service Trust supports physical and psychological rehabilitation programs, aids and shelters homeless veterans, and meets the specific needs of veterans with disabilities.

Capital Area Food Bank

Emergency food assistance is a critical need in most urban centers, and our home of Austin is no exception. Kinnser supported the local Central Texas community with a $10,000 donation to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. Pros

Fun-loving CEO and really awesome music poster decor around the office. In general, most of the employees are super nice.

    Cons

It seemed like there was sometimes no cohesion between some of the departments which caused some stress and tension in meetings.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kinnser Software (Austin, TX).

    Interview

1 - Phone Interview with recruiter (30 minutes)
2 - Phone Interview with VP of Sales (30 minutes)
3 - In-person interview with Recruiter, VP of Sales, Inside Sales Manager & Creative Director (30 min/each)

Overall it was a good experience. When I went for the onsite interview I was toured throughout the office which was very impressive. Specifically there were breastfeeding suites for new moms, I had never seen that before but was very impressed they were available to those who needed them.

The interview was average, I was scheduled on the last day of the quarter which is really an awful time to schedule an interview as anxiety levels were high which didn't really make for a smooth conversation. The interview I had with the Creative Director was the best of the 3, he is a very personal guy and very easy to talk to. He was the also only one who really wanted to get to know me as a person which is crucial (in my opinion), besides that the interview really just discussed what the job entailed.

Despite the timing of the interview my experience was positive, at the very least it was great interviewing experience. My only suggestion would be to schedule more time with candidates, 30 minutes really isn't enough time to get to know someone.
