LCEC provides reliable, cost-competitive electricity to customers throughout Southwest Florida. LCEC’s values are deep-rooted in the community and focus on safety, quality customer service, integrity, diversity, respect, teamwork, accountability and stewardship.

The LCEC headquarters in North Fort Myers, Florida, is in the same location where the cooperative originated in 1940. Approximately 375 skilled employees are positioned throughout the five-county service territory, working varied schedules to ensure customers’ energy needs are met around the clock.

LCEC is one of more than 750 not-for-profit electric distribution cooperatives located throughout 46 states and serving 75 percent of land mass in the nation. Cooperatives are in business to serve members at the cost of service. This business model is different from investor-owned utilities, which typically share profits with investors globally. Cooperatives also vary from municipal, or government operated, utilities which may utilize revenues to fund other projects and programs.

LCEC has been recognized locally and statewide as an industry leader and continually receives acknowledgment for the work that employees do in the community along with various other civic, environmental and professional honors. In addition, the organization has been designated by AARP as a Best Place to Work for Employees over 50 and a certified Center of Excellence Customer Service Center.

Community and Education

Historically, LCEC has supported a wide variety of community endeavors. From economic development, mentoring young students and an apprentice program to helping those less fortunate and ensuring our customers remain safe, LCEC is proud of the way employees share their time and talents to help others.

Over the years, LCEC and it's employees have benefited millions of people through volunteerism, leadership, mentoring, fundraising, and awareness raising. As one of the areas largest contributors to United Way and the American Heart Association lives are changing not only from the delivery of power but from the delivery of caring.

    I have been working at LCEC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good environment, family atmosphere in some cases. Not quite like it used to be but still great company. So many new people and not a lot of chances to get to know them or interact.

    Cons

    Some disconnect between manager and directors and their people who report to them. But, I'm sure that happens in all companies.

    I applied online. I interviewed at LCEC.

    Interview

    The hiring process takes 2-3 months like most corporate level jobs. You will first have a screening email with HR, next you will have a conference call interview with the departments heads, and last you will have your in person interview. You will be given an assessment before the in person interview and then another assessment before the in person interview (Personality, basic math, identifying patterns, and vocabulary).

    The in person interview will be a panel style interview with HR and the specific department heads for the job you are applying for. The interview consist of simple questions regarding your field. HR will finish off the interview with going over the company values and highlighting that LCEC aims to be a first responder for the community in the event of disaster (Like Hurricane Irma). I was told I would be informed of there decision in a few days and later got a generic email from HR saying I did not meet the requirements of the position.

    Everyone was friendly and kind to me throughout the process. I still believe LCEC is a great company to work for and things just didn't work out for me. The only issue I had was after my assessment I had to wait close to an hour for my panel interview.
