I have been working at LECO Corp full-time

    Pros

Generally a 40 hour work week
Doesn't push for non-maintainable work schedule
Will work around family issues like having to take kids to school on a case-by-case basis
    Allows people to stay technical
    Can wear jeans
    Awesome yearly picnic (fair)
The pay is OK in some departments
Can be technically challenging at times

    Cons

    No flex-time
    Can't work from home
Not generally receptive to new ideas or technologies
Not much room for advancement (but you can stay technical)
Can't wear shorts and sandles, t-shirts are questionable
Still actively developing some applications in C++/MFC instead of C#, JS or another more-appropriate, high-level language and platform
Some new products are being developed without UX design
Not much unit testing or push for good software architecture & design on huge projects
The leadership tends to micromanage, but this varies

    Advice to Management

Care about what matters. Allow flex-time, foster innovation, and don't care what people wear to work. Update some of the slightly dilapidated offices & buildings. Try to push practices that make it easier to develop software on big teams like unit testing and software design/architecture. Allow people to try new libraries and techniques more and bring other people along instead of the team sometimes being held back. Take feedback from subordinates so you really know what's going on and how a manager is doing instead of being unaware of some bad practices possibly continuing indefinitely.

    Interview

the interviewing process was easy. If you were honest and straight forward. I was very young at the time and this was my first full time job so I think that may have actually helped me. In a labor position the management knows when they have someone new to the work environment and I think that is usually preferred.
