“I make a difference in the lives of hundreds of people every day.” 

How did you get your start in home health?

After graduating from physical therapy school, I started out working part time – doing a few visits before or after work in outpatient orthopedics. After a few years, I decided to accept a full-time position covering the greater Chicago area. As I learned more about home health, I became more and more fascinated by it. I eventually became a lead therapist and then a regional therapy director covering five offices. Now, I assist offices in 12 states, but I still continue treating patients – it’s why I do what I do. 

Why did you choose a career with LHC Group?

I was lucky that LHC Group chose me – as it has so many other great people. I came to the company by acquisition – and, as in most situations, acquisitions are uncertain times. But after meeting with the LHC Group team, I no longer felt concern – I recognized the opportunity to grow with a top-rate organization. Even in my short time with the company, I have had great opportunities to grow.

How does LHC Group nurture professional growth and work/life balance?

Living in the Midwest, and with offices on both coasts, I currently have a very extensive travel schedule. LHC Group has always been considerate of my personal time and travel abilities, allowing me to always put my family first. 

Has LHC Group helped you find or further define your professional purpose?

Yes – I decided to move further into management because I felt it was the best way to help more people. For each therapist I work with, they work with five patients each day – you do the math. I feel like I make a difference in the lives of hundreds of people every day. LHC Group has also helped me realize how some of my therapy skills are transferable to other avenues of home health and management.

Why did you choose a career with LHC Group?

I had been with a hospital-based agency for over seven years. I was interested in joining an organization with the sort of resources that LHC Group offers across the board – the great infrastructure the company has built. I have the opportunity to work with colleagues who truly understand the nature of the home health business. 

Have you utilized any of the company’s professional development services or tools?

The resource I utilize the most is our learning management system, LHC Connect. I use it for many things, especially for learning and keeping abreast of the latest home health trends. It’s a great one-stop resource for all the latest learning available in the home health industry. 

How does LHC Group nurture professional growth and work/life balance?

At LHC Group, we all work together as a team. We use a team approach to manage our responsibilities – both personally and professionally. This has helped me progress in my career and in my knowledge of leadership and home health. 

Has LHC Group helped you find or further define your professional purpose?

My time with LHC Group has been very valuable in defining my career path. The company has offered me the opportunity to advance in that path and learn along the way – and I’m still learning.

Why did you choose a career with LHC Group?

I always heard nice things about LHC Group through my referral sources at my previous employer. I also knew a few people who worked for the company and heard great things from them. After I interviewed with LHC Group I knew it was a culture I wanted to be a part of. After a few months of employment, I knew this was the place for me. I started as a regional manager in January 2004, with seven locations in North Louisiana. A few years later, I was promoted to state director, and three years ago, to division vice president. 

Have you utilized LHC Group’s professional development services or tools?

Yes, I attended the Center for Creative Leadership a few years ago and in my daily role, I use LHC Connect not only for e-learning, but also for job aides, policies and procedures, etc. Each year I complete courses for continuing education hours. 

How does LHC Group nurture professional growth and work/life balance?

Without the nurturing of leaders in this company, I could not have grown professionally the way I have done here. Anyone who works with me knows that I believe this: LHC Group is still small enough to be family, but large enough to be financially viable and healthy. It is the “family feel” that keeps me here. We expect more from each other than anyone else, but we also care about each other like no other place I have ever worked. I think it is the responsibility of the employee to manage their own work/life balance. We are given a very generous PTO bank, and it is up to the employee how they spend time with family.

How did you get your start at LHC Group – what was your position?

I began working for LHC Group in 2004 with a position that combined job duties of working as a field therapist and developing LHC Group’s low vision program. 

Why did you choose a career with LHC Group?

I have always had a passion for working with geriatric patients in the home. From my first step into a patient’s home during my clinical rotations, I recognized the tremendous impact that a home health therapist can have on the quality of a patient’s life. 

In 2004 I began looking for a home health agency that would provide a fit for me by allowing me to pursue that passion while offering the flexibility to remain focused in raising my two young children. There was an instinctual “fit” for me when I interviewed with LHC Group. I was most impressed that a company of this size could remain humble, personal, professional, and at all times prioritize quality of patient care and dedication to employee development. 

How does LHC Group nurture professional growth and work/life balance?

The culture of LHC Group is about helping people – this means both our patients and each other. LHC Group hires based on character, and trains skills. No matter what your position is at LHC Group, you have a team to work beside and an involved management team there to ensure that you are able to achieve your goals – both professionally and personally. From the CEO throughout all layers of management, it is evident that work-life balance is not only possible, but encouraged.

LHC Group has instilled in me a mission to find ways to grow that impact to something greater and larger, and the resources to do so. I am able to impact patients across the country on a daily basis through the provision of quality therapy services and to rise to the challenges of today’s healthcare market, always seeking to ultimately touch as many patients as possible with the highest possible quality of therapy services.

How did you get your start at LHC Group – what was your position? 

I came on board during an acquisition in February of 2004. I quickly realized and benefited from the resources, training and tools available to me through LHC Group. Due to this investment in my growth and development, I became a Senior PCR for the southern Alabama region, and soon after assumed the leadership responsibility of Alabama as a Regional Market Development Director. In December of 2011, I accepted the role of Division Vice President of Market Development for the Coastal Division. 

Have you had the opportunity to work with a mentor in your time with the company?

Though successful as a sales person and leader, my knowledge of the operational side of our business was lacking. Through my partnership with my peer in Operations in the Coastal Division, I have gained insight into the other side of our book of business. Her leadership and mentoring have also empowered all of our sales leaders within our division to have a better knowledge-base of operations and teach our sales people to embrace ownership of our entire portfolio. 

How does LHC Group nurture professional growth and work/life balance?

The result is that we will assist more elderly Americans to remain in their homes, living independently and healthily. In the end, “It’s all about helping people.”

    Pros

    I've been working with LHC Group for over 2 years. The company has about 13,000 employees in 28 states but I feel like a part of the family and I can talk to anyone CEO, VP's, managers etc. Best environment I've ever worked in period.

    I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at LHC Group (Springfield, MO) in December 2016.

    Julie was very professional and friendly. Julie made me comfortable and relaxed during the interview. Julie explained all tasks expected of the employees and the importance of being a PCA. Julie stated clients want their aides to be punctual and ready to work upon arrival. Julie explained the importance of only performing duties allowed and never take other people to a clients home unless its for training purposes. Julie explained the confidentiality of all clients and never speak of your clients to others unless they will be covering for you. I feel the interview was very knowledgeable and professionally performed. I would defiantly recommended LHC to others.
