I worked at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

work life balance depends on who your working for. Most Principal Investigators assign RAs to post docs, and it's a crap shoot. Some will work you to the bone, including weekends, while others might be more balanced. The institute is a known publishing house, so it will definitely add to your resume if you stay long enough to get included on a publication. Perfect for applicants to grad/professional schools looking to strengthen their resume before applying/reapplying.

    Cons

Low pay. Weekend work is common.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology.

    Interview

The interview process was professional yet laid back. Human Resources contacted me quickly (within a week) after I applied and soon scheduled a phone screen which was followed by an in person interview. The interview was 1 to 1 and I felt very comfortable and at ease. I also received a tour of the facilities and learned about the benefits offered. The interview lasted about two hours.
