I have been working at Lancaster University full-time (More than a year)
Good exposure to project stakeholders (e.g. funders)
Very good equipment (e.g. all Macs)
HR takes an interest in career development nearing the end of project funding.
Well supported by management.
Central university administration is problematic sometimes (inconsistent, not really taking ownership).
The difference in work for 'senior research associate' and 'research associate' is arbitrary, even though the pay is at a different level.
Advice to Management
Allow easier transition between 'senior research associate' and 'research associate' roles based on experience and talent.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lancaster University (Lancaster, England (UK)) in January 2017.
3 staff in the project interviewed me through skype. I was given a task to solve about a week ahead and I had to present the solution at the beginning of the interview.
