    Software Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Boston, MA
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lattice Engines (Boston, MA) in April 2011.

    Interview

The questions were focused on principles of object-oriented programming, like, "what is a virtual function? how do they work? how does the compiler know what to do?" Even though I felt I could answer the interviewer's questions reasonably well, he seemed to want very, very detailed answers down to low-level stuff. It was not enough to say that each class and subclass creates an array of pointers to code; he wanted to know what KIND of pointers. When I couldn't answer, he acted condescending and told me he had nothing else to ask me. I had been told the interview would be approximately 30-45 minutes in length, but he was finished after 10-15 minutes.
