Laureate Education – Why Work For Us?

Laureate and Here for Good

We believe society is best served when our students, faculty, and our entire organization use our collective skills and experience to create positive and lasting change. Our students and graduates are improving lives and making our world better. Our institutions are providing the critical skills, knowledge and support to help make this happen. To us, this is about permanence and purpose. This is what we mean by Here for Good.

While there are countless examples of incredible service and innovation across our vast network, every year we recognize specific examples through the Here for Good Awards. These awards are given to members of the Laureate network who are creating exceptional positive social impact in their community. In 2017, there is one winner and nine honorees in two categories, respectively: faculty/staff and student/graduate.

Laureate - A Certified B Corporation

When Laureate was founded in 1999, we were guided by the belief that when our students succeed, countries prosper, and societies benefit. This belief is expressed through the company’s philosophy of being Here for Good. Laureate has been committed to expanding access to quality higher education, delivering strong academic outcomes, and finding ways to positively contribute to the communities we serve.

Consistent with our mission, in October 2015, Laureate converted to a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a relatively new class of corporations that are required by law to create a general public benefit through a material, positive impact on society. Becoming a PBC allowed us to formally integrate into our legal structure the social mission that has always been integral to Laureate. In December 2015, Laureate became a Certified B Corporation® (B Corp) after passing a rigorous, third-party assessment by B Lab®, an independent non-profit organization.

In order to maintain certification, Laureate and its network is required to be recertified every two years. In 2017, Laureate and its network institutions successfully achieved B Corp recertification, increasing its score by nearly 10 points.

    Pros

Laureate Education is a place where you are invited to propose new ideas and work hard to convince people to adopt it. Once done, you receive the funding you need and get rewarded for your success.

    Cons

A dynamic environment, it can be hard for certain profiles to adapt to rapidly changing strategies.

    Advice to Management

Keep challenging the status quo of education and maintain students at the center of everything you do.
