Mission and community focused, increased staff participation, leadership and board oversight
Likely similar to other community centers, it's hard to say no to needs. This serves the mission, but can contribute to over-stretched staff and resources. A tough position for any nonprofit leader to negotiate.
Advice to Management
Keep focused on the mission, communicate openly and transparently with staff, and continue serving the community.
I applied online. I interviewed at Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.
Pretty brief, friendly. Was interviewed by the director, who also showed me around the building afterwards. Introduced me to all the employes that we met along the way. I was an intern, so no one really grilled me on anything, it was easy and laid back the whole process of getting this placement.
