History

Lewis Brisbois was founded in Los Angeles in 1979, seeking to provide comprehensive legal services to major insurance companies and insured clients in the Southern California region. In the more than 40 years since, we have grown into one of the largest firms in the country, with a full-service offering for clients, big and small. In 2019 alone, we’ve opened six new offices:

  • Charlotte, North Carolina
  • St. Louis, Missouri
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Schererville, Indiana
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Savannah, Georgia (our 50th location!).

Pro Bono

We value the community-minded and pro bono efforts of our lawyers and staff. The needs of those who require legal assistance but cannot afford it continue to grow. Our pro bono program’s mission is simple --“do good things” for those individuals and organizations in need.

The firm’s Pro Bono program promotes our engagement and success in pro bono legal activities. While pro bono work is not required by the firm, we encourage all of our attorneys and staff to find ways to give back to the community, including providing pro bono legal services, joining the board of a non-profit organization, or volunteering time with a charitable organization.

With 50 locations across 27 states, Lewis Brisbois is likely to have an office near you!

While certain regions and offices have a focus on particular practice areas, our nationwide network of resources functions as one fully integrated firm, drawing on the talents of all our attorneys across the country, regardless of location. Lewis Brisbois is on the cutting-edge of emerging legal trends in such areas as data privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property. We are also expanding our international practices, and continue to develop relationships with sister organizations in China, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom.

We also pride ourselves on giving our associates exposure in the courtroom. Lewis Brisbois has some of the deepest trial benches anywhere in the country. Our clients’ objectives are often best served by a pre-suit resolution and we are often judged by the advice and counsel we provide toward that end. When trial is the answer and it is in the best interests of the client, Lewis Brisbois brings to bear the full force of our tenacious and sophisticated litigation prowess, utilizing our nationwide network of attorneys and support staff, as well as our considerable technological resources, to achieve the best possible results for our clients. We have also built a strong nationwide appellate practice that allows us to support our clients and fight for their interests throughout the full life cycle of the matters in which we represent them.

    Pros

    great pay and benefits. attached garage parking (employees each pay about $30/month, the rest is covered by the firm). AMAZING people - it's like a small family. room for growth. good work flow will keep you busy throughout the day.

    Cons

    commute into downtown can be a hassle. some growing pains since it's such a large firm - but interoffice communication and the policies/procedures in place keep us all going.

    I interviewed and it took 2 months for everything to go through. If I knew what I had known back then I would have NEVER applied to work here. I came one time, I met a panel and was introduced to other people and then it took them about 6 weeks to call me back and another 2 weeks to clear background.
