I have been working at Linux Academy full-time (Less than a year)

Clear path of growth within the organization. I have seen at least 10 people get promotions in the past 3 months. Fantastic benefits that they are constantly tweaking to make more attractive to new hires and current employees. Focus on students and our end users as the most important thing about our company. Lots of fun engagement with colleagues even with being a mostly remote organization. Transparency is HUGE here and it shows. They also dole out significant praise within the organization which is a big perk. We have flexible work schedules and amazing work life balance. Makes you actually want to get up and go to work. I check slack even on the weekends just to shmooze with my colleagues because we adore working with one another!

Sometimes jobs close and open quickly and you have to switch gears in a moments notice- but this is true of many recruiting roles and not something im not used to. Every once in a while some stuff could get lost in translation due to people being spread out all over the world. We are scaling VERY quickly and need to hire more people just as quickly so that we continue to have less growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, make sure you spread the work out to others by promoting people to lead positions (As you have been) and as we scale please try to maintain this transparent and wonderful culture that LA has.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Linux Academy (Keller, TX) in March 2018.

Initial contact via a recruiter, followed by a video interview with their HR specialist, and finally a phone interview with the hiring manager. Some time delay in between each step, but that is to be expected, people are busy.

Low key, low-stress interview process from start to finish. The HR specialist focused on my general personality traits and did a great job explaining the Linux Academy remote employment protocols and processes.

Hiring manager delved into my technical skills but was mainly focused on my motivation for taking a teaching job. He really wanted to make certain that I would have a good attitude for the students, and present a positive face for their content.

After the phone interview, they got back very quickly with an offer.

There were not too many prepared questions in either interview, but I saw that as a result of a free-flowing conversation. Both interviewers were well prepared, we just covered many topics without the need for prompts.
