I worked at Listrak full-time (More than 8 years)
I worked at Listrak full time since being hired as a QA Engineer in January, 2011. During that time, I have experienced the ups and downs of a quickly growing company that has gone from about 40 employees when I started, to over 300 today.
Listrak is not the same company it was in 2011, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's not as close knit and family oriented as in 2011, but it is still an exceptional place to work. I read other reviews and I wonder what alternate realities other employees are in because the negative claims made are definitely not accurate, at least not in my experience.
I can't speak for other departments, but the Product Team has been an absolute blast to be on. I had an exceptional team working at Listrak from top to bottom. The VP of Product is an exceptional leader who understands the product, available technologies, and how to best leverage those technologies. He also actively works to align the people to work, so he is always putting developers in an position to succeed. Everyone on the Product team has the opportunity to succeed and move up in their career; I should know. I went from QA to a mid-level developer to a Senior developer in my time here.
My co-workers are brilliant. I haven't met one during my tenure who did not consistently put in their best effort. Listrak hires the best people they can find; ones that are motivated to learn, help each other succeed, and build great products.
With so many pros listed, why did I leave? I was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that was too difficult to turn down. Leaving Listrak was one of the most difficult decisions I have made both professionally and personally and for good reason; it has been an exceptional place to work the last 7.5 years.
I do not have many cons to list besides two; career paths aren't really clear. Two years ago when I asked management about moving up, I was left with silence. This is in the process of being corrected as the new VP of Product has made it a goal to have clear, defined career paths so that employees know where they stand and know what they have to do to reach the next level.
The other con I can list is that pay-scales need to be corrected to better align with market value. I came on at a salary below market value and I never caught up to where I should be. If you know your worth going into the job and can ensure that you are paid at market value on day one, you shouldn't have a problem.
The company is also actively working to get compensation better aligned with competing markets, but it will take some time. Unfortunately for me, our timelines did not line up.
Advice to Management
Continue to be transparent to employees. Morale is lower than it has been in past years in part because we seem to have some big sales team or upper management shakeup every few months to try to stay the course. Several other employees I've spoken to are frightened due to this volatility, one of whom recently left the company partly due to fear and uncertainty.
We have lofty sales and profitability goals and when we don't reach them there is a sense of fear in the company. It is a great goal to always want to shoot for the moon, but don't downplay our success when other companies would kill to be in our position financially.
The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Listrak in March 2017.
I had a phone interview that seemed to go pretty well. They sent me a couple behavioral tests to take, and then never got back to me. Even when I emailed them to make sure they got what I sent them, they just would not respond. I thought it was pretty unprofessional, and I wish they would tell me if they weren't interested hiring me instead of just ignoring me.
