With our continuing strength in Europe and increasing presence in emerging markets, we are committed to developing our success through ambitious plans for the future. To achieve these goals we are looking for talented and motivated individuals to join our company at this exciting stage of our company’s development.

There are two LSEG graduate programmes – one in business and the other in technology. Both routes prepare you for a leadership role.

The distinctive feature of these schemes, which set them aside from many others, is the opportunity to complete three distinct six-month rotations in any one of our key business areas.  This not only means more variety, but also the chance to gain a clear understanding of LSEG and develop your broad commercial awareness.

Support on offer from the day you arrive

We’ll provide you with a ‘buddy’ when you first arrive – someone who’s been through the graduate scheme themselves, who’ll be able to provide you with useful pointers and practical advice. You’ll also benefit from a more senior mentor, who’s independent of your direct reporting line and able to offer advice on your career, networking, building relationships and navigating the firm. The way in which you manage the relationship with your mentor is a matter of negotiation and will depend on your needs, ambitions and commitments.

Graduate Programme Requirements

We are interested in recruiting people who understand the full breadth of our business, how it fits together, how it functions – and are interested in its development as it grows and diversifies.

To be successful on the programme, you will need to be a talented and highly motivated individual who shares our values and passion for success and growth. To adapt to changing demands, you’ll need strong intellectual capability, a fluid communication style, plus the gravitas to establish good working relationships and influence key stakeholders. It is also important for you to be driven and resilient to see projects through to successful completion. You will stand out to us if you can demonstrate that you recognise that what you achieve is equally important to how you achieve it.

Our minimum academic requirements are:

  • A 2:1 honours degree, for Business we accept any discipline, for Technology we are looking for science, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 300 UCAS points at A-level from your top three subjects excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking (or overseas equivalents)

There are many intelligent graduates, we are looking for the things that set you apart. Perhaps you’ve been involved in extra-curricular activities, for instance, excelled in sport or demonstrated leadership qualities? Your background isn’t important, but your attitude is. We like people who are motivated and can demonstrate a strong work ethic. You’ll be interested in our business, curious and – where necessary – willing to challenge the status quo.

Our application process

  1. Initial application - Apply online with your personal details, work experience and academic history.
  2. Essay Style Questions - if you pass the online tests you will be invited to complete longer essay style questions and submit your full application.
  3. Online testing - includes verbal, numerical and Inductive reasoning. Candidates should expect to be retested at assessment centre if they successfully reach this stage.
  4. Telephone interview – this is an opportunity to learn more about our programme and share your experiences. We will be focused on understanding your ability in relation to our key competencies, but we will also be interested in learning more about your interest in London Stock Exchange Group.
  5. Assessment centre – includes a variety of exercises including group work, presentation, analytical case study, ability tests and interview. You will meet with a number of managers and graduates throughout the day and it’s a great opportunity to learn about their careers and experiences. At the end of this day we want you to be clear about whether or not you would accept an offer to join our programme.

Please Note - Our Graduate Programmes are now closed for applications and will re-open in September 2016 for the 2017 programme.

Our nine-week summer internship programme, for penultimate year students, has been designed to simulate our graduate programme.  Whether you apply for the Business or Technology internship, you will gain an understanding of what a career with LSEG would really be like. These are real roles; in fact, sometimes our summer interns are surprised at the level of responsibility given to them. As a summer intern, you play a part in the success of our business, just like you would do as a graduate.

Our internship programme is an excellent way for us to spot talent for our main graduate programme. As well as the formal induction week, we offer a range of opportunities for development, including ‘learning lunches’ with subject-matter experts. Like our graduates, you’ll have a ‘buddy’ to help you find your feet and a mentor, who’s someone more senior and able to offer advice on your career ambitions.

Requirements

To be successful on the programme, you will need to be in your penultimate year of your university course, you will need to be a talented and highly motivated individual who shares our values and passion for success and growth.

There are many intelligent students and graduates, we are looking for the things that set you apart. Perhaps you’ve been involved in extra-curricular activities, for instance, excelled in sport or demonstrated leadership qualities?

Hints & Tips

We want to help you to prepare and give you the best chance of success, please read these hints and tips and tailor your approach accordingly. Please note that we recruit on a rolling basis so early application is strongly advised.

Be prepared - what would you like to know. Complete some research before attending one of our events or meeting us on campus so you are clear on the information you require to better understand our business and the opportunities available. Make sure you ask the right questions so you walk away knowing if you could envision a future with us.

Be on time – or let us know if you can’t attend. Our events give great insight to our business and as they are relatively small and we don’t run many, they are usually over-subscribed. Giving us fair notice if you have realised you can't attend allows us to offer the space to someone who would also like to attend.

Remember, the professionalism you show now provides us with an insight to how you may operate in our business and with our clients.

Application

Online Tests - Practise the online tests before you do them. You can find practice questions on our system or more widely on the web. Make sure you’re in quiet area with a good internet connection when you take the test for your application.

Become more than an application - Tell us more about your experiences and what first led you to consider the opportunities we are offering. Make yourself more than an application, show us the real you and make yourself memorable for the right reasons.

Research. - It is important to be fully aware of the business and programme you are applying to and why this is of interest to you, for example, we offer a rotational programme across the Group so if you’re absolutely clear on your career direction, this may not be the right opportunity for you. Go beyond the graduate website, go beyond the Group website. This is your future career – it deserves your time.

Ensure your contact details are correct - If we cannot reach you, we cannot invite you to the assessments.

Show your enthusiasm. - A strong academic record and impressive achievements are a given for the top graduate employers. What often makes an application stand out from the crowd is its quality; how well it is written and how genuine and committed you are to our business.

Tailor your thinking to us - The compulsory application questions are important and the best way to make yours unique is to put yourself at heart of your answers. We want to learn about you and what motivates and excites you.

Telephone Interview

Come to us with original thinking - When you meet us through the selection stages, we want to hear your ideas and interpretation of what you have learnt about our business and the sector. It’s always great to meet candidates who are enthusiastic and keen to develop new opportunities.

Be clear on the question being asked - Often candidates will have a supply of examples to pull on to answer questions. Although this demonstrates good preparation, be mindful when using this technique as you may try to fit an example to a question without providing a suitable response.

Be prepared to discuss your reasons for wanting to join LSEG and the programme you apply to - If you can’t answer this, do you really want to join?

When given the opportunity to ask an assessor questions, ask one or two - It shows you’re interested, and will provide you with additional knowledge about our business. This is your chance to have a full picture to help with your decision-making should you be offered a position.

Assessment Centre

We always assess competencies more than once - so if you have a bad exercise during the assessment centre, put it to one side and move on. You will have several opportunities to show us what you are capable of. Remember, you will make mistakes through your career, but how you deal with these provides real insight to your approach and indicates how you may fit with our business.

Always be clear on what you need to achieve during the exercises and ensure you focus on delivering. If you have not fully understood the instructions, you may complete the task incorrectly and limit your evaluation. So ask us if you’re unsure, we want to see you performing at your best.

Remember, we cannot assess information we are not provided with - So when you’re in a group conversational exercise, make sure you contribute verbally, sharing your views and interpretations. Your participation will provide your assessor with insight.

Please Note - Our Internship Programmes are now closed for applications and will re-open in September 2016 for the 2017 season.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at London Stock Exchange Group (London, England (UK)) in February 2017.

    Interview

Very nice staff and interviewers. Started off with online tests then a phone interview followed by an assessment centre. Interviews are a mixture of technical and competency. Some technical questions are easy whereas others can be hard, really depends on the interviewer.
