    Pros

A lot of really smart people. Interesting, face-paced environment. Ability to have an impact on the business. Located in the city.

    Cons

Very tough market to be a mid-sized company in. The core market is slowly disappearing and the market always wins no matter the team.

    Advice to Management

Really get to know the business and understand it. Use that understanding to decide where to head to next.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at LookSmart (San Francisco, CA) in June 2011.

    Interview

The interview was surprisingly easy. I was asked what I knew but not asked to demonstrate it. I was then called in for a second interview almost a month later. This centered more upon my interests than my skill set. I think it was so easy because I was replacing an intern.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

There was no negotiation. I really wanted the job so I took it at the salary offered.
