I worked at Lucent Technologies full-time (More than a year)
This company was very professional and cared a lot about the welfare of its employees. They offered excellent benefits and opportunity for advancement. I was proud to work for them.
They focused too much on the "band" level you were. They cared more about keeping people "contained" in the lower level bands; keeping them confined to the tasks that particular band required, rather than seeking out potential roles for them to fill. However, if that lower level band employee went out of his or her way to network a lot with upper management and sought out more challenging tasks, it would be acknowledged and they would consider them for new opportunities.
Advice to Management
Think about "loosening up" the reigns when it comes to band levels. The work culture is a little too stiff . You have an excellent company with great benefits. If you just loosened up a bit more, more people would be interested in joining your team.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lucent Technologies (Murray Hill, NJ) in February 2016.
