They were signed on with most union so the pay and benifits were non negotiable and top of the line. Lumus had a great thing going remoldeling historical homes and buildings for the US government and then added onto their resume' alternative energy projects like solar panels and wind turbines. They developed a great name for themselves including small business awards from John Kerry and even the President.
Lumus had a great name, reputation and set up going for themselves but shot themselves in the foot by not following guidelines, rules, and requests by customers. They cut conrners, ignored job specifications and rarely met job completion dates. The company had great talent in the field but was mismanaged inside the office and that's what cost them their company.
Advice to Management
Listen to the guys in the field. The field guys were the only Lumus employees liked by customers. That should tell you something right there. The office was filled with management that had no clue how to run jobs and deal with customers, again listen to the guys in the field. Stop valuing office employees over field personell. The field guys make you money, the office people lose you money.
