I worked at MADRE as an intern (Less than a year)
They give interns actual work, and give you great latitude to make decisions. Your opinion is heard and requested, occasionally.
It's a small office, both physically and figuratively. Some departments are more social than others, but most work on their own.
Advice to Management
Maybe work on integrating some of your temporary workers into the social aspects of the office.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MADRE (New York, NY).
Meeting at office with the Department leaders. It was a pretty casual situation. The interview was more conversational, though i was asked specific questions (the usual kind of interview questions, what skills you posses, why do you want to work here, what made you apply to this position).
Learned a lot about the organization when I asked questions regarding their approach and the work they do, also how they chose to communicate to their donor base, and how.
