  1. Senior Accounting Manager Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MANTL (New York, NY)

    Interview

Had an initial chat with their HR Person, then was advanced to the 2nd round.

Person who is the current head of finance - they start off by telling you they are going to ask a pop quiz at some point during the interview. If you aren't good at those - well, you ain't getting this job lol

I think we need to call out employers that do this tactic - it's a bit of a waste of everyone's time especially if this type of stunt has nothing to do with real-world working environment - but is more a way to do 2 things: 1.) make themselves seem superior in a conversation and 2.) stress out a candidate mores than they would already be to see what happens.

If that's how they want to run their Finance/Accounting shop that isn't saving lives but producing financials and numbers on a calendarized basis - yeah - me, you, basically anyone who applied to the role - ya'll can do better.

Also - do yourself a favor and look at their reviews section here - not a single bad review - does that seem realistic?

No one, ever, had anything less than the perfect time at MANTL?

Or is it more than likely that at certain points either HR or a higher level Exec prods their teams to post up positive reviews to obfuscate any ACTUAL issues the company has.

For example - allowing high ranking employees to use child-like elitist tactics to conduct an interview. It's a terrible strategy, and the type of thing someone who has no business being in the job they have, would do.
    Interview

A few questions on experience, your thoughts on the company itself, and as mentioned above - a really trash pop quiz that just allows the smug leader to feel good about themselves and gate keep to keep people out of contention.
