I have been working at MCD Partners full-time (More than 3 years)
A great mix of people with strong experience in the digital field. They focus mostly on experiences that are a core value to a product or service which is why they skew heavier on the financial clients. There's always the occasional campaign or redesign that lets the creative muscles really flex. There are snacks, drinks, happy hours, and after work outings. A good mix of younger folks and more experienced senior managers. Definitely a place you can learn a lot and grow in your career.
This isn't an agency where the big idea matters unless you have the big idea plus the idea of how it makes business sense to the client and how you plan to get it in market.
Advice to Management
Keep up the good work and bring home some additional campaign / redesign work that lets our creative shine.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MCD Partners (Chicago, IL) in May 2015.
Pretty straightforward - I took my interviewers through my portfolio site, described projects (difficulties and things I learned), and we chatted about other ux-related things (including research methods). I didn't have any practiced answers, but I did know my portfolio projects inside and out. The interview was over their video-chat application (think Skype). Pretty low-stress and informal. The recruiting people I spoke with to set up the interview were incredibly nice and helpful, and were available through email as well as phone. After my initial interview, a recruiter and I set up a call to discuss next steps - salary, hours, etc. A few days (maybe a week or so?) later, I got a call with some good news that my pay rate was going up to stay in line with New York!
