I have been working at MRV Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people here are great. The products are amazing and exciting to learn. Not the usual stress you get from other manufacturers. They pick the right people. The people are mellow, laid back but hard working and very intelligent. Many have been here a long time and it is a seasoned team of professionals, older and wiser. Politics is virtually absent.

    Cons

We haven't been profitable in several years, despite the great product line. We got purchased by ADVA Optical and changes are happening quickly. It is clear ADVA wants the product line and intellectual property. Employees are being cut really fast. Everyday there are more good-bye emails. Good people are disappearing. Some of us don't know how long we have or IF we'll stay. The separation packages are generous. That's good, because some have been here 10-20 years, are older and the job market is going to be a shock.

    Advice to Management

Sorry it had to come to this. Nothing against former CEO Mark Bonney or new CEO Brian Protiva. That's the nature of the business. Good luck Brian, I hope you make it go right.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at MRV Communications (Chelmsford, MA) in August 2015.

    Interview

Interviewed with EVP of Sales, Director of Services, Director of SE, VP of Engineering, and Two Tech support. Not bad at all. t I should have done more thorough research on MRV but I trusted somebody there.

    Interview Questions

    • They should have asked if I was insane to even entertain MRV   Answer Question
