Happy Vet Tech and Support Staff Appreciation Week! We'd like to kick off this celebratory week with a spotlight on one of our anesthesia technicians at Angell, Patrick Fitzgerald. Patrick started his anesthesia training in September 2021 and is in the final stages now. He knew when he graduated from his tech program that he was interested in anesthesia, but started in surgery where he was able to watch and listen to the anesthesia doctors and techs. Patrick recommends that anyone interested in anesthesia starts in surgery - this allows you to fully understand the department and the program when you transition over to anesthesia. Patrick finds working in anesthesia massively rewarding. There are times when he has a difficult case and is able to use his training to keep the patient safe. It is quite fulfilling to be able to rely on his skill set to help patients in real time! From all of us at the MSPCA-Angell, we thank Patrick for his dedication to helping animals. We recognize the vital role that our hospitals and adoption centers play as a safe haven for animals especially in times of crisis. We are committed to being a resource for our community during the outbreak with services and support.
