The fact that Macquarie was able to actively grow our US business during a period of industry downsizing may surprise some — but not our clients.

Meet some of our staff
The diversity of our people is fundamental to Macquarie’s success.
Our long history of success has come from being different. As a company which operates globally, the diversity of Macquarie's people is fundamental to that success.
In every one of our offices across 28 countries around the world, you’ll find individuals from varied backgrounds with different ways of thinking, different skills and different experiences. This range of experiences, skills and views are key strengths and critical to the wide range of services we deliver across the globe as well as understanding the communities in which we operate.
We harness the strength of our diversity through inclusion. Inclusion means creating a workplace environment where people feel they can be themselves, regardless of their gender, age, ethnicity or cultural affiliation, sexual orientation, beliefs or educational background.
Hear what our staff have to say
On 10 December 1969, Macquarie’s predecessor organisation, Hill Samuel Australia, opened its doors with three staff and an ambition to provide advisory and investment banking services of an international standard to the Australian market.
Now we are a global business operating across 28 countries and with specialist expertise in areas such as resources, agriculture and commodities, energy and infrastructure, with a particular knowledge of the Asia-Pacific region.
Since its inception, Macquarie has differentiated itself by focusing on new opportunities, both in product and geography, progressively building expertise in these disciplines and expanding into adjacent areas.
Here are some of the key events that have shaped our evolution into a uniquely diversified business.
I have been working at Macquarie Group full-time (More than 10 years)
Flexibility in work arrangement. Support staff are helpful. Fully stocked kitchen and free lunch every day. Data and various subscriptions provided.
None. Some of the free lunches are lower quality. I think the computers and internet are a little slower due to macquarie fire walls.
Advice to Management
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Macquarie Group (New York, NY) in April 2017.
90 minute phone call with Australia, 2 hour in person interview, 3 hour general education test.
The timed IQ tests I consider silly unless you're coming out of school... Other than that it's a pretty standard process. A little bit easy as they don't ask you to complete a project (which I personally consider the best coding assessment you can give someone)
