Last week, our CEO Jeff Gennette kicked off a series of Town Halls with a visit to our San Francisco offices. This was an opportunity for Jeff to listen and learn from our colleagues about their work, our culture, and how our strategy comes to life each day. This year, we sponsored the Code Black Tech Gala bringing together Bay Area tech companies to recognize individuals and organizations making a difference in communities of color. Our Make Magic recognition programs allow employees to recognize their peers throughout the year. We provide each person with a portal page where they can send thank you/congratulations notes, tell a story to recognize others or acknowledge a milestone. We also have annual, quarterly and “on the spot” recognitions.
One of our most popular initiatives is It’s Your Time Summer Hours program that allows employees to leave as early as 1 p.m. on Fridays during the summer season. It begins the Friday before Memorial Day and continues through the Friday before Labor Day.
Our Partners in Time volunteer program has been recognized nationally, receiving the Points of Light/Hands On Network “Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteerism.” This is a grass roots program that allows employees to decide where to apply their time and energy in giving back to the community.

Not enough hours during the week
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Macy's Technology.
Phone interview with recruiter, followed by in-person interview. The recruiter, calling in from home that day, gave me a list of people I would speak with, which turned out not to quite match the list of people I actually spoke with. The senior person among the group left part way through the interview. One person asked mostly "tell me about a time when" questions and those went very well. Although they did not specify this, I got the feeling they wanted someone with a software engineering background (which I do not have). Following the in-person interview, the company has not contacted me in any way, even to tell me that they do not intend to make me an offer.
