Magnopus – Why Work For Us?


Magnopus is a VR & AR  Experience Company forging art, science, and technology to create new experiences across virtual reality, augmented reality, and good ol' fashioned reality reality.

Located in downtown Los Angeles, we are empowered by an Academy Award-winning team of artists, technologists, and "make it great" producers who bring a diverse body of experience and creative solutions to the field. We're working on technology platforms and content experiences that are interactive and immersive, powered by game engines. Our technology teams are developing AR platforms and custom VR platforms for clients on Oculus devices, HTC Vive, iOS, Magic Leap, and HoloLens using Unity, Unreal, and cloud infrastructure.

Our unique focus on story and content-driven technology development gives us advance access to some of our partner's over-the-horizon hardware and software developments in light field technology, holographic and translucent displays, HMDs, performance capture, and human computing interfaces.

    I have been working at Magnopus full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Alex, Ben, and Lap (our leadership team) truly care about the welfare of their employees and regularly roll out new initiatives and perks to improve our benefits packages. Magnopus is growing very quickly and they are focused on making thoughtful decisions as we evolve into a larger company. Culture is a huge selling point as Magnopus is full of highly talented individuals who also happen to be great people. Fun clubs at lunch! Overall great work/life balance (some crunch time close to deadlines, but nothing excessive). Plus, we're working on amazing projects!

    Cons

    Would be nice to have additional choices for health insurance. The onsite parking situation can be pretty hectic (though it is paid for by the company and you're guaranteed a parking spot). DTLA commute is a pain, but the company will pay for your Metro pass to take the train or bus if you'd rather not drive.

    Advice to Management

    Because we're growing fast, that means we'll need more people in management positions. My advice is to make sure the right people are chosen for these roles who are committed to preserving the amazing culture Magnopus has built.

    I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Magnopus (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2018.

    Interview

    Very laid back. Checked in at the front desk. Then went to a meeting room to discuss my resume qualifications with the hiring managers. Took a tour of the office and demoed 2 of their VR products. Overall, very friendly people and a very chill office environment.
