Our legacy began on May 29, 1850 with the formation of The Manhattan Life Insurance Company. We made a name for ourselves early on, introducing incontestable clauses in life insurance contracts before any other company. We issued the first ever group life insurance contract and issued one of the first life policies to a woman. In 1894, the original Manhattan Life office building in New York City was the tallest building in the world.

Formerly named Central United Life, ManhattanLife Assurance provides life insurance, group and individual health and accident benefits, and cancer insurance for today's policyholder.
• FAMILY LIFE
Family Life Insurance Company is specialized in mortgage protection life insurance policies that fit the needs of today's families. They also provide of Medicare supplement insurance.
• WESTERN UNITED LIFE
Western United Life has been marketing and distributing a competitive line of short to mid term fixed rate and immediate annuity products as well as Medicare supplement insurance.
• MANHATTAN LIFE
The Manhattan Life Insurance Company offers Medicare supplement insurance, life & supplemental health insurance, and fixed rate annuities in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Combined, these four companies are licensed in all 50 states and Puerto Rico offering a wide range of life and health insurance products and fixed annuities through multiple distribution systems. Additionally, all four operating companies offer a range of reinsurance facilities. Since 1982, the companies have completed over 60 such reinsurance transactions. The companies maintain an A.M. I have been working at ManhattanLife full-time
401k with a 4% match; Great benefits including major medical, dental benefits, vacation time and personal time off; Friendly Management Staff; Company dinners for Go Texan Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas (fully paid for by the Company); Nice bonuses for long term employees; Occasionally they give away tickets to events including the Rodeo and Houston sports teams; Very nice people to work with; The work schedule is somewhat flexible and you get to leave early on Friday.
Some of the work can be difficult; however it keeps the job challenging.
Advice to Management
Increase staffing and training.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ManhattanLife (Houston, TX) in April 2016.
I applied online, and received an e-mail to set up an interview. The interview was very easy, and the manager was very nice to talk to. Afterwards, I received another e-mail to come back for a second interview. I met with the president of the company. He was also very nice to talk to. They gave me a call to give me the final decision.
