I have been working at Market America full-time (More than 5 years)

For those that enjoy low-morale environments, no work-life balance, no-respect for your abilities, being screamed and cursed at on a regular basis then this place is for you. While there are many smart people that are willing to contribute, only the ones that can take the abuse generally survive---others move on as fast as possible

The cons are quite extensive and are simply too vast to list in their entirety here. However, I have been at Market America for over 6 years and have seen my fair share of the ugly side of this company. This company is 23 years old and the owners still act like spoiled children when they can't have their immediate needs met in-terms of project deadlines. So, in order to get their way, they force people to work extremely long hours and do not allow them to take their earned vacation unless pre-approved by the CEO---crazy right? It gets better, they are so arrogant and delusional anyone that goes against the grain and disagrees with the existing leaders is reprimanded to ensure their power is not undermined in front of subordinates---the laws of power are the rule book at this place. The technology is dated and only certain people get the opportunity to grow and it's always the same ones, so others are simply pigeon holed in their current positions. In order to survive, I would suggest reading Sun Tzu's Art of War, as you will need it. All of this is quite unfortunate, as there are so many smart individuals outside of the managers, that could help this place become great, but as long as the current management is around, they will continually hold the place back from becoming anything more that what it is today---a terrible work environment with zero work-life balance. Anyone reading this that is considering taking a position, should read all of the reviews to ensure you know what to expect. You can tell the "real" posts from those that are conjured up from management and those employees that have been asked to post reviews to help the company look better. Advice from someone who knows this place intimately----find another employer that cares about you and respects your abilities.

    Advice to Management

The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Market America (Greensboro, NC).

I interviewed back they were just starting their big hiring phase. Back then, they had a couple great people in management and were focused on getting in people they could shape. Now, they try to give hard interviews because they think there's a lot of worthless developers they are stuck with, completely unrealizing that all of their problems with some developers is their own fault caused by extremely low morale and extreme limitation of everyone's potential, in some cases awesome potential and ability... Do not take a job here. They are completely underserving of awesome talent they seek. They are underserving of even mediocre talent. Take the developer's reviews to heart. They are not lying.
