    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Marsh & Clark Design full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Marsh & Clark has been a great place to learn, grow & hone my skills. I started out as an intern who had studied product design with minimal interior design knowledge and am now a senior designer with project management under my belt. If you show the interest and competency the principle will give you a chance to explore an array of jobs that fall under the "interior designer" gamut. There is quite a bit of direct exposure with clients and vendors. Principle designer & managers are very knowledgable & approachable. There are a broad range of projects primarily high-end residential but also boutique commercial spaces, family spaces, developer projects and the occasional pro bono job. In my opinion, the principle designer doesn't have an ego & is collaborative, she has an overall aesthetic goal in mind but enjoys hearing ideas & giving constructive feedback. The current office is in a shared space with other Architects, Engineers which gives the office a fun collaborative feeling.

    Cons

The environment can be fast paced & can have a heavy workload when we come upon a deadline.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Marsh & Clark Design in April 2014.

    Interview

Applied online. Started with a phone interview. Interviewer sounded really nice over the phone, and after a while she invited me to "shadow" in the office for a few hours a day to see how we would work together, ie work for free. I stupidly said yes and went in, and did actual work like update a skechup model. The office environment was a home-adjacent office in a garage. In the few hours I was there, I heard her lose her temper to a staff member and got a weird/tense vibe from the office. She never replied me after I left; didn't even have the courtesy to thank me for coming in working for her for free a few hours. This was in 2014, but I doubt people change, and I still want to share my experience.
