I worked at Marshalltown Company full-time (More than a year)
Great people to work with, good company values, everyone (even interns) gets their own office not just a cubicle, free coffee/drinks, top management appreciates hard work. They took a chance on me, and I had the freedom to explore new opportunities within the company. I felt like my work was highly valued during my time here.
Starter salary was less than desirable; location isn't fantastic, but there's nothing the company can do about that.
Advice to Management
Project management needs improvement. Important projects are often put off until last minute so it becomes an all hands on deck effort when it could have been completed in a less stressful manner. My suggestion would be to have a set structure of each project outlining the project goals, employees involved, and a timeline for completion that is clearly stated from the beginning. Employees could be held accountable for getting their share of the project done on time so others aren't waiting on them to finish their portion of the project. Overall, I really enjoyed working at this company and have learned and grown a lot over the last couple of years.
I applied online. I interviewed at Marshalltown Company (Marshalltown, IA) in October 2016.
I met with a board and discussed my background, and then I was required to modify existing code to accept various problems given to me. The coding portion was only with one employee and the head of the department.
