Maser Consulting – Why Work For Us?

Originally operating out of a Victorian house in Marlboro, NJ, Maser Consulting was founded in 1984 when Chief Executive Officer and President Richard M. Maser, PE, PP, CME made a commitment to introduce and develop the next generation of engineering services. Bringing his vast knowledge of engineering to the firm, Maser Consulting initially focused on Civil/Site Development, Municipal, Traffic and Land Surveying services.

The next two decades brought many changes to Maser Consulting. Investments made in the hiring of key professionals and implementation of advanced technology built a solid foundation for the future. Maser Consulting was taking shape as the multi-discipline firm it is today through reinforcing its commercial capabilities and adding Water/Wastewater and Geotechnical Engineering, Ecological, Environmental, Bridges and Structures, Telecommunications and Infrastructure Services. The company also opened new offices in Maryland, Virginia, Florida and New Mexico, launching the firm from serving clients along the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coast to a more national reach.

In 2016 Richard M. Maser, founder of Maser Consulting P.A. announced the firm has made a strategic change in its leadership structure. Mr. Maser has passed the company’s presidency to Kevin L. Haney, PE and has advanced long-time director, Leonardo E. Ponzio, PLS to the position of Executive Vice President.

As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mr. Maser will continue seeking opportunities that will strengthen and provide long term stability for the company while steering its direction for success.

Today, Maser Consulting is an award-winning company headquartered in Red Bank, NJ and employs over 700 professionals in 22 offices nationwide. Maser University

Maser University is an online education system available 24/7 to all employees and consists of over 1500 courses. These courses include technical classes needed to maintain or acquire certifications as well as soft skill classes like management, health/wellness or leadership. It enables Maser Consulting to customize training programs and provide employees with an infinite amount of opportunities. Additionally, the system keeps track of employee licensure and required continuing education units, assisting greatly in the organization of this information. For licensed employees who are required to maintain continuing education units, this significantly reduces the amount of time they’ve had to spend in the past identifying, registering for and attending courses. Maser University allows employees to gain the education they need, want and deserve.

Lunch & Learn

Maser Consulting’s Lunch and Learn is a training program conducted during the lunch hour of a work day. The program, usually informal and loosely structured, is ideal for topics that can be covered in less than one hour. A Lunch and Learn can be conducted by an employee or an outside vendor and cover a variety of topics: product training, professional development, technical skills, marketing, life skills, health and safety, etc. As the name implies, attendees receive a free lunch, and who doesn’t love a free lunch?

Mentorship Program

Maser Consulting’s Mentorship Program is a formal career development program whereby mentors help build relationships of professional trust and respect. Each year, volunteers sign up to be a mentor, mentee or both. This program benefits employees by helping to develop valuable skills and establish firm career paths.

Maser Women's Organization

The mission of the Maser Women’s Organization is to create an influential network of career-minded women within the firm. The focus of this organization is to educate, engage and empower the women of Maser Consulting by building self-confidence and enabling their voices to be heard through engagement and education.

While there are professional organizations for women in the STEM industry outside Maser Consulting, having an organization within the firm allows for more personalized professional growth, closer to home while fostering greater involvement and connection to the firm.

Maser Consulting Foundation

For many years, CEO Richard Maser has wanted to take his and the firm’s charitable efforts and transform them into something larger. At the end of 2016, the company established the Maser Consulting Foundation. Its purpose is to raise funds to aid local organizations that directly benefit the surrounding communities in which the Firm and its employees live, work and play.

Charitable Fridays

Charitable Fridays are a monthly staple within Maser Consulting. This charitable program is held on the first Friday of every month and features a non-profit organization or individual in need. The featured organization is chosen by an employee. By allowing personal recommendations, a wide variety of organizations and individuals has received assistance, and with a waiting list already extending into late 2018, the process has proven to be a success. Participants may choose to donate money automatically from their paycheck or deliver funds to their Charitable Friday coordinator.

Community Service Committee

Maser Consulting’s Community Service Committee gives back to their surrounding communities. This committee has worked on organized service events with Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, Red Cross, Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Green Team

The Green Team is Maser Consulting’s environmental task force of volunteers.  Since its inception last year, the Committee’s initiatives have included a “Go Paperless” campaign; company-wide recycling initiative to improve recycling rates; study of employee commuting to reduce emissions; and beach dune grass planting events with the Jersey Shore Surfrider Foundation.

    I just celebrated my 25 year anniversary at Maser Consulting. The longest I ever worked at another company was 5 years. However, I thought when I had my interview with Rich Maser 25 years ago that this might be a long term relationship but I never imagined it would be this long. Things have changed a lot at Maser in the last 25 years. When I started we were a company of 60 professionals. Now we employ over 600 professionals and are consistently ranked one of the best firms to work for as well as one of the "hot firms". The only way I can explain why I spent the last 25 years at Maser Consulting and did not look for employment elsewhere is that working here always felt like "home". Friendly and caring people, great team work, opportunities for advancement, and encouragement and support to be the best at what you do.

    I applied online. I interviewed at Maser Consulting.


    I submitted an online application through the company website and received a call the next day to set up the interview. The interview was smooth. I met with the recruiter and the immediate supervisor for the position. I received a call hours after the interview to set up the second interview. This was with the department head, who was friendly and asked good questions. Overall, the interview process was efficient and professional.
