Mission: Mattersight's mission is to help brands have more effective and effortless conversations with their customers and employees.
We help brands have better conversations wtih their employees and customers.
Mattersight is dedicated to the application of innovative technologies combined with advanced, language-based human behavioral modeling to drive business improvement for our customers.
When viewed through the right lens, language reveals personality. At Mattersight, we use one of the world's most innovative personality models - Dr. Taibi Kahler's Process Communication Model (PCM). Because PCM is language-based, Mattersight can passively capture customer personality data without requiring the user to fill out a survey. Using voice or text, Mattersight can infer a customer's communication preferences, psychological needs, distress triggers and personality profile - all based on analyzing the phone call.
Mattersight leverages PCM across our products. We have analyzed more than 1 billion phone calls and built more than 10 million behavioral alogrithms to help our customers have more effective conversations. Over half of consumers say that their #1 annoyance is speaking to agents who don't understand their needs. In fact, 92% would pick their ideal call center agent if they could.

We have offices conveniently located in Chicago, Austin, and the Minneapolis metropolitan area. Our offices are designed with a focus around communication and collaboration between team members. Mattersight TV keeps all employees up to date on new clients, customer insights and employee events such as anniversaries, birthdays, company outings and other company news. Ping pong and/or foosball offer alternative ways to bond with coworkers or simply take a well-deserved break.
We strive to deliver an excellent benefits' package to our employees. Some of the favorites include pet insurance, two paid volunteer days per year, a minimum of 3 weeks vacation, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan as well as an equity-based Company Performance Bonus.
Mattersight is committed to hiring bright, talented, and passionate people. Part of that commitment includes developing our team for career advancement through mentorship, training opportunities, and programs like Mattersight University or as we call it, U-Matter. Employees at all levels facilitate classes on a wide variety of topics including core sessions that drive a deeper understanding of our solution such as on our personality typology and how it can be used to further develop personal and professional skills. Mattersight also provides opportunity for personal development through programs like Toastmasters International.
Mattersight believes in dedication, innovation, and collaboration to help our customers reach their goals. We build a culture that supports this by hiring and developing individuals who share these values, and providing them with the mentoring, training, and career development programs they need to succeed and excel.
Our vision requires a strong team of dedicated, intelligent, innovative, and highly-skilled individuals working together toward a common goal.
We believe in the recognition, development, and advancement of individuals who exhibit:
Continually striving to find more insights without letting opinion influence the results.
The ability to quickly make educated decisions and take action. Good analysis of complex data beats perfect analysis too late.
An innovative and bold approach, anticipating our customers’ needs and meeting them with solutions that set new standards in analytics.
Always striving to be fair and transparent in all dealings and interactions.
Mattersight prides itself on cultivating a culture that team members feel a part of and enjoy! From new hire happy hours to holiday celebrations, we know how to balance work with fun.
Here are some of the ways our team celebrates our achievements and each other:
Regular employee feedback sessions reinforce that communication at all levels is important. Our CEO, Kelly Conway, and our COO, David Gustafson, facilitate an Employee Earnings call each quarter. They review the same materials released the day before to the street and employees are encouraged to ask any question they have about the company. We have a monthly e-newsletter and our Mattersight TV content delivers company news such as new logo signings, client expansions, key delivery dates and news from the offices and about our employees.
Mattersight offers two paid volunteer days a year that each employee can use towards their own charitable work or as part of a work team. Past volunteer opportunities include preparing lunches for Feed Our Starving Children in Edina to volunteering at animal shelters in Chicago and more.
Our Q3 2016 goal is to support organizations working within our local communities to provide food to neighbors and families.

I have been working at Mattersight full-time (More than 10 years)
Management and coworkers consistently put people first through great times and hard times. It's an IT company, so you're going to have some encroachment on your life, but on the whole it's truly excellent work/life balance. I can't imagine a more supportive employer.
You're encouraged to pursue your work interests, even if they lead you to other teams. If you've got great ideas and effort, you can make a real impact no matter what level you're at or what team you work on.
Great people to work with across the board.
For being a small company, employment and org structure has been quite stable. Seems like my friends at big companies have way more layoffs and general instability than we do.
Cool and unique proprietary technology. Lots of things to keep a scientific, technology, or data driven mind interested.
Top level management very accessible and supportive. They're involved and in touch with the technical operating details of our business.
Waiting anxiously for our business to take off! I'm a bit jealous of IT companies that scale up big time. Hoping we someday are in that group.
I applied online. I interviewed at Mattersight.
Had a phone screener with the recruiter and then with the hiring manager. They invited me to their office after the second phone screener, but they don't pay for you to come, which is a pretty annoying.
They had me prep a presentation based on a dataset they sent me. It took a while (maybe 10 hours), and it wasn't clear exactly what they wanted.
On the day, I took a Wonderlic test, then presented, then had a series of interviews. Everything went fine and they asked pretty typical questions. The culture there seems pretty bro-y.
The recruiter called me two weeks later saying he received positive feedback on me, but then I never heard from them again.
