Mission: Mattersight's mission is to help brands have more effective and effortless conversations with their customers and employees.
We help brands have better conversations wtih their employees and customers.
Mattersight is dedicated to the application of innovative technologies combined with advanced, language-based human behavioral modeling to drive business improvement for our customers.
When viewed through the right lens, language reveals personality. At Mattersight, we use one of the world's most innovative personality models - Dr. Taibi Kahler's Process Communication Model (PCM). Because PCM is language-based, Mattersight can passively capture customer personality data without requiring the user to fill out a survey. Using voice or text, Mattersight can infer a customer's communication preferences, psychological needs, distress triggers and personality profile - all based on analyzing the phone call.
Mattersight leverages PCM across our products. We have analyzed more than 1 billion phone calls and built more than 10 million behavioral alogrithms to help our customers have more effective conversations. Over half of consumers say that their #1 annoyance is speaking to agents who don't understand their needs. In fact, 92% would pick their ideal call center agent if they could.

We have offices conveniently located in Chicago, Austin, and the Minneapolis metropolitan area. Our offices are designed with a focus around communication and collaboration between team members. Mattersight TV keeps all employees up to date on new clients, customer insights and employee events such as anniversaries, birthdays, company outings and other company news. Ping pong and/or foosball offer alternative ways to bond with coworkers or simply take a well-deserved break.
We strive to deliver an excellent benefits' package to our employees. Some of the favorites include pet insurance, two paid volunteer days per year, a minimum of 3 weeks vacation, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan as well as an equity-based Company Performance Bonus.
Mattersight is committed to hiring bright, talented, and passionate people. Part of that commitment includes developing our team for career advancement through mentorship, training opportunities, and programs like Mattersight University or as we call it, U-Matter. Employees at all levels facilitate classes on a wide variety of topics including core sessions that drive a deeper understanding of our solution such as on our personality typology and how it can be used to further develop personal and professional skills. Mattersight also provides opportunity for personal development through programs like Toastmasters International.
Mattersight believes in dedication, innovation, and collaboration to help our customers reach their goals. We build a culture that supports this by hiring and developing individuals who share these values, and providing them with the mentoring, training, and career development programs they need to succeed and excel.
Our vision requires a strong team of dedicated, intelligent, innovative, and highly-skilled individuals working together toward a common goal.
We believe in the recognition, development, and advancement of individuals who exhibit:
Continually striving to find more insights without letting opinion influence the results.
The ability to quickly make educated decisions and take action. Good analysis of complex data beats perfect analysis too late.
An innovative and bold approach, anticipating our customers’ needs and meeting them with solutions that set new standards in analytics.
Always striving to be fair and transparent in all dealings and interactions.
Mattersight prides itself on cultivating a culture that team members feel a part of and enjoy! From new hire happy hours to holiday celebrations, we know how to balance work with fun.
Here are some of the ways our team celebrates our achievements and each other:
Regular employee feedback sessions reinforce that communication at all levels is important. Our CEO, Kelly Conway, and our COO, David Gustafson, facilitate an Employee Earnings call each quarter. They review the same materials released the day before to the street and employees are encouraged to ask any question they have about the company. We have a monthly e-newsletter and our Mattersight TV content delivers company news such as new logo signings, client expansions, key delivery dates and news from the offices and about our employees.
Mattersight offers two paid volunteer days a year that each employee can use towards their own charitable work or as part of a work team. Past volunteer opportunities include preparing lunches for Feed Our Starving Children in Edina to volunteering at animal shelters in Chicago and more.
Our Q3 2016 goal is to support organizations working within our local communities to provide food to neighbors and families.

Through generous donors, volunteers and participating organizations, they are serving 46,000 people in need each week.
Chicago: Lakeview Pantry and Greater Chicago Food Depository Lakview Pantry has 3 food distribution programs that deliver more than 1.6 million pounds of food to our neighbors each year and social services that help clients achieve independence. LP aims to end hunger for good. GCFD is Chicago's food bank; a nonprofit food distribution and training center that provides food for hungry people while strivign to end hunger in our community.

I have been working at Mattersight full-time (Less than a year)
Mattersight is a growing company with interesting products, really smart people and a culture that offers something for everyone such as volunteer days, regular lunches (thanks for always remembering the vegetarians and gluten-free!), office outings and a softball team. Employees can start programs they are interested in such as a new Data Collaborative, Toastmasters and a book club. Big name clients. I've learned a lot about topics I'm interested in and been introduced to topics that I didn't yet know I was interested in.
There is a very fast pace and you have to be willing to work hard. Exciting when all is going well; can be draining when there is an issue.
Advice to Management
Keep listening to employees and keep communicating to employees.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Mattersight (Austin, TX) in May 2017.
1st : initial phone screen, background information, why mattersight, etc... typical bs pgone screen talking about experience and projects.
2nd: Phone interviee with higher up manager / team lead. Repetive questions from the phone screen mostly. Some brainless OOP technical questions that a monkey can answer.
3rd: phone interview with another high level manager talking about why I want to do web design, why computer science. More questions about background and experience. Some brainless tech questions about web design and sql queries.
4th: on site all day interview process with various teams and developers. Started with the Wonderlic test, then lunch with the team lead. Then multiple back to back interviews with various devs asking random OOP questions. The technical questions are just trick questions that invilve the goldbar trick question, find the heaviest ball out of 8 balls, find the duplicate number in an array.
Overall the process took me 5 or 6 weeks total and it ended up being a total waste of time.
