Be: Authentic, Curious ...
I have been working at Maurices part-time (More than a year)
Our store has a great team, I truly love everyone that I work with. The customers are nice and friendly (for the most part), and it's easy to help them out and suggest clothes. Everything for operations is nicely organized and if something goes wrong I know who to call, or where to look to find the solution.
Also, it's not commission based and at Maurices we focus on team selling.
Maurices goals are mainly focused on credit cards and selling (like any retailer). If you are not comfortable selling credit cards or making sure that you push to meet a sales and units goal, this may not be the job for you. But it's not that complicated if you love fashion and helping customers.
Also, not a lot of room for advancement, there are only two full positions at each store and everyone else is part time. And the Area Sales Manager position just got cut so after you hit full-time Manager, you kinda already hit your peak.
Advice to Management
Cut all the part-time and have more full-time positions. I get it's a money thing, but sadly I will be leaving Maurices because I can't get hours. I am a part time assistant manager who just graduated college with a Bachelors degree in Mangement and I can't find a full-time position with Maurices in my area. I love my store and team but in order to pay my finances, I need a 40-hour week job, not 15 hours...
I applied online. I interviewed at Maurices in August 2017.
It was a group interview. Everything was very casual. The basic "name a time when" questions were asked. The manager was very personable. I interviewed three days ago and she said that when she finished interviews at the end of the week she would be in contact, so I haven't heard back yet.
A culture we're proud of and we think you would be, too.
