Travel nursing offers registered nurses unique opportunities to experience a new and exciting setting, learn additional skills, and meet new people. As a travel nursing agency, we hire travel nurses on a temporary contract that are typically 13 weeks in duration.  When your initial assignment is complete, you can often extend the assignment or we’ll find a new position for you. However you choose to work with us, we’ll always make sure the job is right for you.

MedPro has travel nursing jobs across the country and across town in acute care and rehab hospitals, outpatient clinics, home care, schools and long-term care facilities. After I graduated from the University of Florida—GO GATORS!–with a B.S. in Health Science and a M.S. of PT my first job was at the Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC). My supervisor at ORMC talked to me a lot about her days as a travel therapist, and after two years of working I decided to try traveling therapy. I worked for another travel company for one and a half years before I switched to MedPro Staffing because I heard wonderful things about the company–especially that the pay was great!

My first experience with MedPro was speaking with the recruiter who I found to be very knowledgeable, professional, helpful, pleasant and–above all else–HONEST! I liked that I was told the truth about my pay. The other company never explained to me just how all of the “perks” were being funded.

After traveling with MedPro for about nine months, I took a permanent job but I only lasted nine months before I began to long to travel again. I missed getting paid every Friday, changing my work environment–which helps me avoid burnout and job dissatisfaction, and visiting friends all over the country while making lots of money!

I’ve developed a great relationship with my recruiter. She’s gotten to know me, and all of my likes and dislikes. I talk her all the time, usually to report on how my assignment is going, but every once in a while I call just to see how she’s doing. It’s like talking to a big sister!!!! She can help with any problem. I once arrived at an assignment before it officially began. My recruiter quickly fixed the problem and I received pay for the days before my job started!

My last assignment in Washington D.C. at the VA medical center was awesome! I saw the snow, the Pope, the cherry blossoms, all of the monuments, college friends, childhood friends and family. I also made an incredible amount of money! The job was never boring. I treated patients in outpatient, acute care, sub-acute, and long-term care and, on my last day, I observed a total knee replacement.

The last time I completed an assignment in Boston, I began working on my Doctorate. While on assignment in January 2006, I graduated from Boston University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy! I was able to become Dr. Letha Gidharry, DPT while traveling!

I worked at the same hospital for 26 years before I decided to make a change, and even then I needed to spend two years convincing myself before I was really ready. The options in my home town were limited and I knew I didn’t want to commute every day to a job nearby. That’s when I started thinking about travel nursing.

When I began my search for a travel company, I didn’t have any references. So, I got on the Internet and started looking around. I was so afraid I would pick the wrong company, but I just needed to take that leap of faith and plunge in! When I found some information on MedPro, I decided to give them a call. I’m so glad I did!

My recruiter worked hard to find me just the right assignment. I wasn’t ready to uproot my husband just yet so I wanted to be near enough to home to go back on long weekends. He found me a placement in the emergency room at a wonderful hospital just four hours from our home town. I completed two 13-week assignments at that hospital and everything went very smoothly.

I’m an independent person and one of my worries was that my recruiter would call me too often. He did call me after my first day and then again a week later to say, “I’m here if you need me.” That was perfect! He seemed to understand what I needed and I never had to say a thing.

Now that I’ve made the switch to travel nursing, I realize it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. While I was in my ‘forever’ job, I worried about what I would do if I lost my job. Now, between assignments I have enough money to enjoy a little free time without worrying where the next paycheck is coming from.

I come from Manilla and I was introduced to MedPro before I ever left the Philippines. While I was in school, my professors encouraged me to think about working in the United States where I would have more opportunity for good work and professional growth. After working for two years in the Philippines, I decided to give traveling a try and got all my paper work together. I contacted MedPro through a company in Manilla. MedPro helped me to get my visa, which is not a sure shot these days, and I was soon working at my first assignment in Florida.

My MedPro recruiter’s line is always open to me. If I have a question, I just send an email and she responds to me right away! She has also supported me in my goal to travel around Florida and try out different locations. Since January 2006, she’s worked to find me assignments in Miami, Merritt Island and Orlando.

With my recruiters help, I’ve had a chance to get to know what I like in a job and a city. My favorite spot so far is Orlando where I’ve been for my last two assignments. When I’m ready to find a permanent job, I think it will be here.

My experience has been beyond expectation from day one. I was on the internet exploring the opportunities in traveling nursing. It was a holiday, so I did not expect to be contacted. However, I received a warm and welcoming e-mail from my future recruiter Katie Young, who was also on vacation. I noticed the dedication and joy Katie expressed for her job, and it matched my feelings about being a nurse.

Katie saw my on line inquiry, and responded with a casual e-mail. I wrote back and discussed my long term plan, my vision of what I wanted to do with my life. We felt a connection right away. Katie introduced me to traveling nursing and what MedPro has to offer.

My first assignment was my dream job. Katie made sure I was prepared with everything I would need to have a great experience. The staff at my new assignment were fabulous! I was treated like the professional that I am. And I had plenty of time off to be my own person.

Through each transition, Katie made sure I always had what I needed both personally and professionally. MedPro helped me to get licensed in new states, get my ACLS certification, and improve my skills and marketability. I have made new friends and professional contacts. I have explored new locales. And my pay package was more than I expected. I believe I will work as a traveling nurse until I am ready to retire

    I have been working at MedPro Healthcare Staffing full-time (Less than a year)


    I always have excellent communication with my recruiter, payroll, HR, etc. I love the bonuses given when you sign a new contract. All my questions were answered quickly and I loved all the extra perks. ie gift cards, personalized gift boxes, etc This is my first travel assignment and I am now on my third contract at the same facility. I'm very happy with this company. I have been treated better by this company than any other place I have worked in the last 25 years. Traveling is a great way to obviously travel, and make a good living. It helps to know your company has your back and is concerned with your safety.

    Advice to Management

    Hello management. I'm not sure if this is advice, and this actual applies to other staffing companies not Medpro. However be careful when hiring people who try and lie about their experience. I have seen this in other companies and the travelers they send have no idea what to do. Its dangerous to the patient and not helpful to the other employees. If management receives praise about an employee, please let that employee know, and develop a reward program when an employee goes above and beyond the usual expected duties. Always reward good behavior.

    interviewd at medprostaffing. it took 2 months to hear back from them. took 5 months to start looking for an assignment. I have some family issue and they fired me for that reason.
