100 great healthcare leaders to know | 2017

Healthcare has been moving from volume to value-based care for the past decade with the passage and implementation of the ACA; now healthcare institutions need strong leadership to navigate the changing industry tides as Congress seeks to repeal and replace the ACA while continuing to promote higher quality care at a lower cost.

Medecision – Why Work For Us?

Delivering Connected Care Everywhere

An increased focus on care quality and cost effectiveness as part of shifting reimbursement is moving the existing U.S. healthcare delivery model from episodic care to population health management. Are you ready? Let Medecision help. We’re dedicated to tackling the big problems in the healthcare industry, like disconnected systems, disjointed data, less-than-optimal care delivery, and health outcomes that none of us want to experience. Our innovative approaches and technology-driven solutions liberate fragmented healthcare systems and Connect Care Everywhere. With Medecision, consumers, physicians, health plans, and the entire care community have access to the right information at the right time to profitably and effectively manage population health, generate efficiencies, and improve the quality of care at every touch point.

What We Do

  • We create, define, develop, deploy and evaluate software products within an overall platform that helps health plans, care providers and others manage health better, more efficiently and with better outcomes.  Some of our applications are enterprise SaaS apps, some are direct-to-consumer (for smartphones and tablets), some drive key platform capabilities like data aggregation, individual identification, prediction modeling and more.
  • We consult with clients as well, to help them target our solutions and optimize them during and after deployment.
  • We do the other important business things…like sales, marketing, finance, people, culture, IT…you get the picture.

Why is Medecision a good place to work?

  • It’s a fast-paced and progressive place, where people who are energetic, passionate, committed and entrepreneurial work hard, progress quickly and get to help people during vulnerable times in their lives.

  •  We invest in technology, innovation, people leadership, physical support systems (check out our new office photos) and more.
  • We have strong and deep roots in care management technology and we have a promising future in helping our clients connect care across the healthcare continuum to achieve the Triple Aim.  (Triple Aim = better health outcomes, lower cost, higher quality)
  • It’s a great place to be in the mid-2010s…investment dollars are pouring in, interest and motivation to take care of people better is soaring and technology is transforming the way every one of us takes care of ourselves, our families, our loved ones.

How do you know you’d fit in here?

Are you innovative, passionate, collaborative, candid, agile and leading the way??  These are our cultural values and they’re part of what we do, how we act and how we’re measured and compensated.  If these feel natural to you, you’d be a natural for us.

The people! Every employee is a true innovator and has a passion to improve health care. Everyone is truly trying to work as a team to make change. It's a fast-paced exciting place to work. People genuinely care about their teammates and their daily work.

Rapid change brings chaos at times and some managers need to enhance their management skills to effectively guide teams through that change.

    Advice to Management

Great people are leaving due to their managers not the organization. Focus on employee retention and improving management leadership skills.

    Manager, Client Communications Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Wayne, PA
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Difficult Interview

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Medecision (Wayne, PA) in March 2017.

Extensive interview process - I had gone through six interviews (four 30-60 minute phone interviews along with two in-person interviews), and was told that I could expect three more on top of this. Twice I met with people in person who I already had spoken with over the phone, with no real purpose for this second interview.

I was excited about this opportunity and the multiple interviews helped me better understand the organizational culture. But it seemed excessive overall, particularly when I was told after six interviews and more than a week of waiting that I was over-qualified for the position. This seems like the kind of observation one could make earlier in the interview process (maybe by interview #3?) and left a bad taste in my mouth.

The recruiter and HR staff I worked with were very responsive and accommodating. The interviews themselves were light and conversational, less focused on behavioral interview questions and more on the job responsibilities and my own experience.

I enjoyed the process but the ultimate outcome was disappointing and made me question if it had all been worth the time. I would have rated this overall experience as negative had I not been for the friendly Medecision employees I interacted with over this two month period.
