Medline Benefits Information
Medline employees receive a comprehensive compensation program that consists of pay and benefits. With our salary plan, you are eligible for annual salary reviews and promotional opportunities based on performance. With our benefits plan, employees choose the benefits that make the most sense for them and their immediate family. Eligibility for most benefits plans is the first of the month following or coinciding with 60 continuous days of employment. Some benefits may vary by division.

Medical Plan: Medline employees  are offered medical options to find the plan that best meets their needs. Employee's choices include three national PPO plans through UnitedHealthcare and a managed care program through Kaiser Permanente available to employees in California.

Wellness Program: Employees who participate in an annual biometric screening receive a $40 per month wellness discount applied to their pre-tax medical premium. The wellness discount is initially automatic for a period of time, thereafter, participation is required.

Dental Plan: A MetLife dental plan is offered which provides coverage for preventive, basic and major services.

Vision Care Benefits: Vision care benefits are available through Vision Service Plan (VSP). The plan helps with routine exams and eyewear.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Upon date of hire, Medline offers a full service EAP available to employees and all household members for confidential counseling, resources and referrals. In addition, five face-to-face counseling sessions with a licensed network professional are provided for free, per issue per year.

Savings and Reimbursement Accounts: Medline offers several accounts that enable employees to pay for eligible expenses tax-free. Health Reimbursement Accounts, Health Savings Accounts and various Flexible Spending Accounts allow employees to set aside money on a pre-tax basis for certain healthcare expenses, and/or the costs of dependent daycare.

Retirement Savings Plan: Medline offers a 401(k) Plan (tax-deferred payroll deduction savings plan) through Vanguard to help employees save for retirement. Medline also provides a generous company match on employee contributions. Employees can choose from a variety of investment funds and may rollover their accounts from previous employer’s 401(k) plans. The plan also allows for participant loans.

Educational Assistance and Training: High school diploma, undergraduate and graduate school tuition reimbursement. Employees also participate in a number of seminars and training programs provided by or through Medline at no cost to the employee.

Life Insurance: Medline automatically provides basic life insurance at no cost to employees. The basic plan pays employee's beneficiary 1½ times eligible pay. Fully commissioned sales representatives are covered under a flat benefit amount.  Medline also provides additional assistance to the surviving family during these trying times. Employees are also able to purchase employee supplemental life and dependent life insurance.

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability: Medline provides short and long term disability coverage at no cost following one year of service.

Other Voluntary Benefits: A variety of other voluntary benefits are also available, such as legal services, critical illness insurance and accident insurance.

Vacation and Flex Time: Regular full time employees (excluding commissioned sales representatives) are eligible to receive:

  • Up to 10 days’ vacation in first year of employment, based on hire date. After two years of employment an additional day is added in the following year and each year thereafter, up to a maximum of 19 days of paid vacation earned at 10 years of employment.
  • Flex time (excluding commissioned sales representatives) is earned at the rate of ½ day per month up to maximum of 6 days per calendar year. Flex Time starts accruing after 30 days of continuous employment.

Financial Services with BCU: BCU Financial Services is a non-profit, full-service financial institution with services similar to most banks, often with more competitive interest rates. There is a location on-site in Northfield at Medline’s corporate headquarters.

    I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Medline Industries (Chicago, IL).


    I was contacted by a recruiter within the company. From there a simple phone screening was put on the calendar. After the phone screening, I was asked to come in to speak with current employees with the same title, as well as the Senior Product Manager. I met with 3 people, all in all in took about 3 hours (hour per person). Questions were simple, but the process seemed a little longer than expected.
