I have been working at Meetings & Incentives Worldwide full-time

    Pros

My experience has been a very positive one. I was able to contract when my kids were young, and I have come on-board FT with great flexibility in my schedule. Working from home is a huge benefit and I have frequent contact with my team, which helps me feel connected to colleagues. M&IW has provided many opportunities for me (in travel, networking, and training). But more than anything, I enjoy the work.

    Cons

Let's be honest - the meetings industry is very intense, fast-paced, and can be high-stress. It's not for everyone. These facts should not impact reviews of a meetings company. As with any company, advancement takes timing, planning, pro-activeness, and opportunity.
That said, I think M&IW would benefit by hiring more employees (since workload is heavy)- and in doing so, provide more margin in everyone's schedule for more thorough training, and room for creative ideas development. There are many times when the packed schedules simply do not allow for mentoring and training those newer to meetings or account SOP, which can negatively impact the quality and consistency of meetings across the board. We don't want great employees leaving because they feel unsupported or burned out.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Meetings & Incentives Worldwide (Caledonia, WI) in April 2018.

    Interview

I was so impressed with the interview process for M&IW. I received a call from Connie, the talent acquisition person, shortly after applying online. We had a great conversation for about an hour where it was equal parts discussion about what I could offer and what the company does.

Because I was going to be coming into town from out of state, she allowed me to come in for a second interview to accommodate my travel schedule. Had another very positive interview with upper management. All very friendly and energetic. Their passion for their work is evident. Most importantly, I felt very good about the communication as the process went along, feeling like I was being kept in the loop.

However, I received another job offer before the interview process was over, so I decided to take the bird in the hand, rather than risking a miss on the one in the bush. Even in telling them of my decision to bow out, they were gracious and full of well wishes. I appreciated the level of professionalism all along the way.
