I worked at MTR for eight years and learned quite a bit on gas separation membranes. I do have to say your level of satisfaction at this company will be determined by the effectiveness of your manager. They have both good and bad managers. I was lucky to get a good manager/mentor. The company prides itself in hiring people of different ethnicities. Company also prides itself in not laying off their employees and a few that are let go are practically let go because they are doing nothing!
Being a small company sometimes the employees may feel like there is no room for growth
Advice to Management
Create different levels within a position, i.e Engineer I, II, or III so people feel like they are growing within the company
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Membrane Technology and Research (Newark, CA) in September 2014.
First I had a phone interview which went great. Then they asked me to come in for an in person interview, the people there were very friendly and it was not intimidating at all. But be prepared to be interviewed by a lot of people, at first its scary but then you appreciate getting to talk to everyone
