I worked at Merck KGaA full-time (More than 3 years)
I was in the US subsidiary and really enjoyed the experience along with the people I worked along side. We had a great team in place after completing a retrenchment and significantly improved business performance by re-engineering many legacy processes and streamlining operations. Our team revealed several key areas that successfully improved the business with a great deal of autonomy to take charge.
While the US team made several great strides, it was all negated once our parent company purchased Millipore. The Millipore acquisition adversely impacted the morale for the legacy team and it showed as Millipore was given the autonomy to make any changes they desire as it related to North America.
Advice to Management
It is easy to take a passive stance once an acquisition occurs and use that as an outlet to alter the legacy organization. Unfortunately, the more recent team members that produced all those great achievements became guilty of the past by association. I would suggest using a more engaged approach by Darmstadt leadership to evaluate each member of the prior team objectively rather than making a blanket assessment.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Merck KGaA (New York, NY).
Very tiring. They asked me to prepare a ppt on the spot and present it. Two rounds of Interview. First was 1:1 and second was presentation round. I was given around 40 mins to prepare ppt and the material was given by them.
