    I have been working at Mercury Systems full-time (More than 3 years)


    It's a dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere at Mercury Systems with a stellar leadership team. You're surrounded by extremely talented co-workers who are committed to delivering the best capabilities to the U.S. warfighter.

    Mercury emphasizes life-long learning and backs it up with actions. If you want to broaden your horizons, nobody will stand in your way. I've had more formal and informal learning opportunities at Mercury than all the other companies I've worked for, combined.

    Mercury rewards top performers, both financially as well as career opportunities.

    The company has a great set of culture and values. They operate by that code so it's not just something listed on an inspirational poster.

    The company does a great job with internal communications, especially given how many sites, both domestic and international, there are.


    People work hard at Mercury, because they want to and because management sets a high bar. So work-life balance is very difficult to achieve.

    Health care costs are high and compared to defense primes to justify, yet the company says it operates as a commercial high-tech company. Benefits should match (or be close to) those of a commercial high-tech company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing exactly what you are doing. As the company gets larger, be more vigilant on rooting out people who talk a lot but deliver little in reality (but give the impression they deliver a lot)

    Modify your performance management process to allow any employee to anonymously submit feedback (positive or negative) to another employee's manager, like Google does. This would help give managers more balanced feedback on their employees and determine appropriate development activities.

    Keep communicating clearly - your communications strategy is working.

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Mercury Systems (Huntsville, AL) in February 2018.


    The process was focused not just on my background and experience, but also on whether the position and the company would be a good, mutually beneficial fit. I found this refreshing and helpful, in that it reduced some of the tension that often surrounds interviews, and candidly focused on whether this was a good fit for both parties.
