Making media fun again: why we must free our industry from outdated models

This article started as a rant in Nice airport, as I waited for my delayed flight from Cannes, aimed at how incredibly risk averse and short-sighted we can be as an industry and how two quick fixes (putting audiences and channels before content development and a balanced approach to brand and demand KPIs) could solve a lot of our ills.

2 WPP Agencies Are Starting a New Service Focused Specifically on Amazon

WPP firmly believes that the future belongs to Amazon. Less than two months after acquiring Amazon-only consultancy Marketplace Ignition, the holding group's media agency, Mindshare, and its performance marketing agency, Possible, which is based near Amazon's Seattle headquarters, have joined forces to offer clients a shared service combining media and ecommerce "across the entire Amazon ecosystem."

Mindshare – Why Work For Us?

Mindshare is a global network of over 7000 people (116 offices in 86 countries) dedicated to being different and creating awesome results for our clients.

Mindshare is the first new global company that WPP created. We were born with the ambition to change the world through media. Our birth in 1997 shifted the focus from media as a pure commodity to media as a change agent. Our ambition was to go beyond the traditional media descriptors of 'Optimise, Capitalise, Maximise.' We will not be defined by the formulaic definitions of media.

Our role in this world is to help clients grow their business and to become their lead business partner and we achieve this through a culture of original thinking driven by speed, teamwork and provocation.

Mindshare is part of GroupM, which oversees the media investment management sector for WPP, the world’s leading communications services group.

If you value speed, teamwork and provocation, then you belong at Mindshare... Check out our 'Work for us' page for more info on how to find current openings, what we look for and why you should work at Mindshare.

Throughout history Original Thinkers have changed the world. In media, it was us. We rewrote the rules in 1997 and we want you to help us do it again. If you value speed, teamwork and provocation, then you belong in the Mindshare family. We'll encourage you to break the rules, knock things down, rebuild them better and reinvent the impossible.  The only question is where do you want to start?

Pick a destination and join the revolution.

Senior management and executives do an excellent job at rewarding hard work, creativity, and ingenuity. Great programs for transferring internally to other locations and encouragement to work across teams for education purposes.

Work/life balance can be a difficult at times, but what agency isn't like that?

    Advice to Management

I applied online. I interviewed at Mindshare.

Applied online. Recruiter / HR reached out quickly to do a phone screen and then asked that I come in for a physical interview at the local office. I went in an I thought it went very well and then I heard nothing for weeks until a different manager called to do an additional interview.
