Help us redfine the future of health care and work with purpose at MinuteClinc. Now hiring Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.—30+ days ago
The first QuickMedx centers (MinuteClinic’s predecessor) opened in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area in May 2000. They offered treatment for seven common medical conditions: strep throat, mono, flu, pregnancy testing and bladder, ear and sinus infections. Services were cash pay only and a more affordable alternative to ERs and urgent care centers.
The demand for walk-in convenience led to quick growth, with several large employers asking their health plans to include QuickMedx in their networks. With the addition of insurance coverage and other improvements, QuickMedx became MinuteClinic in December 2002.
The business took off and MinuteClinic added clinics in more stores, as well as at corporate office locations in the Twin Cities. In August 2004, the company expanded with new clinics in Baltimore.
Less than a year later, MinuteClinic launched its relationship with CVS Corporation (now CVS Caremark) and opened its first walk-in medical clinics based in CVS/pharmacy stores in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Baltimore. This led to national expansion in CVS/pharmacy locations with MinuteClinics opening in Nashville, Indianapolis, Raleigh-Durham and elsewhere in Maryland. In 2006, CVS Corporation acquired MinuteClinic.
Also in 2006, MinuteClinic became the first retail clinic provider to earn accreditation from the Joint Commission. Formerly JCAHO, The Joint Commission is the national evaluation and certifying agency for nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
Now there are more than 800 MinuteClinic locations inside CVS/pharmacy stores in 28 states and the District of Columbia. We have expanded services to include diagnosis and treatment of minor illneses, injuries and skin conditions; administration of vaccinations, health screenings, physicals and monitoring for chronic conditions. To help make our services more accessible to patients in the community and bring our clinical quality to an even higher level, we have formed clinical affiliations with 28 of the largest hospital systems in the United States. With more than 18 million patient visits, we are proud of our 95 percent customer satisfaction rating.
Every day, MinuteClinic practitioners help individuals, employers and health insurance plans access quality health care. We hope to have a MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinic near you soon. Check Locations to see if we’re in your neighborhood yet.
Today, we're the proven leader in retail health care. And we continue to create an efficient and successful environment for patient care. By design, our care model ensures you can focus on providing your patients with high-quality care at every visit:
We were the first to offer clinic practitioners the opportunity to have autonomy in their practice... and concentrate on giving high-quality personalized care. Today, we are also the best. And, by focusing on our vision, we will continue to be.
Our growth and continued success depends on practitioners, like you, whose talent and experience so greatly benefit our organization and our patients. And we reward them with a compensation package that is among the best in our industry, including:
If you currently feel like you're working more and earning less, it's time you discovered MinuteClinic. We pay our practitioners by the hour, rather than by a monthly or yearly salary. That means, unlike other practices, you will be compensated for every hour you work at MinuteClinic. And because of our care model and proprietary EMR system, you can leave the extra hours of completing documentation and paperwork behind you. Plus, our in-depth market research ensures our rates are always competitive and are updated on an annual basis to remain that way.
Our benefits are based on an employee's status of full-time, regular part-time and casual-part time, as well as each individual plan's eligibility requirements.
Imagine a career with an organization that not only shares your perspective as a practitioner, but also supports and provides for your growth and development. That's a career at MinuteClinic.
Here, you'll find many more opportunities for growth and leadership than in traditional practice settings. In fact, your role can lead to many leadership positions within our organization, and rather quickly. It is quite common for a MinuteClinic practitioner with strong leadership skills to take on a role as a Clinical Lead, and move up to Manager of Operations. Opportunities also exist for positions within the corporate structure as we continue to grow.
Along the way, we'll support your growth with educational opportunities and professional development programs that are truly best in class.
As we've grown, our practitioners have grown with us. Today, Clinical Lead positions in all of our markets are currently held by professionals just like you, who have moved up through our organization. In the past few years, over 60 Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants have taken on corporate and leadership positions in our organization, such as Clinical Leads, Managers of Operations, Director of Guideline Implementation, Director of Practitioner Services, Regional Training Managers and Regional Recruitment Manager.
At MinuteClinic, we rely on the expertise of strong practitioners like you, not only to manage our clinics, but also to provide the voice and leadership that will help us grow our care model and take our organization into the future. It's why there's no environment better suited to your professional growth.
Talented Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, like you, want to grow professionally, develop in their career, and further their education. At MinuteClinic, we help them to do that seamlessly, with professional development and continuing education opportunities. We provide these opportunities not only through our own training programs, but also through CME events and offerings through affiliated organizations.
Our continuing educational opportunities contribute greatly to the success of MinuteClinic as a whole, as well as the continued professional success of our practitioners. Our Web-based training program offers practitioners an opportunity to take more time with the subject matter and personalize their review to match their learning style. It also allows us to provide more in-depth information, whether we're introducing you to new products and services, or conducting an annual refresher on an important aspect of patient care. Plus, there is always personal support available from our training staff for any question that may arise.
We believe investing in your ongoing training and education is essential — not only to your success, but to ours as well. That's why, from the moment you are hired, you'll also have the opportunity to keep your skills current through CME events and offerings through affiliated organizations.
I have been working at Minute Clinic full-time (More than a year)
Hourly pay with time and a half for over 40 hours; Ability to work autonomously without on-site management presence; Strict "no narcotics" prescribing policy to protect providers
Lots of admin and marketing duties in addition to seeing patients (but they do tell you about this during the application process); Picking up the slack of other providers who do not do their fair share of clinic duties; Outdated IT system with lots of issues and policy of not being able to check email from home
Advice to Management
I think management really does care and try their best - it shows in their actions and the success of the company. I would like to see everyone held accountable to the same high standards so clinics are run as a partnership between providers, not by one provider doing all the "behind the scenes" work while another just shows up, punches the time clock, and sits around waiting for patients to arrive. I would like the ability to check email from home so I can cross that off my admin duty list before I even arrive to work, and spend more of my paid work hours with patients. I do wish I received a response to suggestions I have made to Shared Leadership Council -- to my knowledge and from reading the minutes, none of my suggestions were even brought forth to management.
I applied online. I interviewed at Minute Clinic in July 2017.
First interview over the phone for 30 minutes and second is supposed to be 1 hour over the phone with a open or close shadow at one of the clinics.
